How close is Clarry with his family?

I feel like one of his issues is feeling a bit isolated? No Partner, that I know of, or kids like most of his mates.

That’s not for me to discuss.

He doesn’t have a partner, nor children. As @Jaded No More has said, the Club is his family.

I suspect that the entire playing group was required for the team meeting (re Trac and BBB) immediately prior to training. It was a very gentle "flush" run so why not have  a run around to show "institutional  happiness"?

I just saw happiness.

Where to begin?

Firstly Maysie was here but didn’t train. I was talking to Chocco who told me No Spaz, No Leb this week. He said Leb is probs right to play but they’re “looking after him for next year.” Then he said, “Maysie’s looking good though.” I said, “Will he be playing this week?” He says, “Should be. Here we go, let’s see what he thinks!” Maysie happened to be approaching us. Chocco says, “WCW here wants to know if you’re playing on Friday. Maysie very eloquently said, “fckn oath I am!!!” 😂

I was chatting with Keith (Tracc’s physio). We talked about how happy the boys were to have Tracc there today. He agreed and said, “And Christian is just as happy to be with them.” We talked about how quickly things can turn 180 degrees and basically who’da thunk?! He obviously didn’t tell me details of this morning’s team meeting but he didn’t have to… another guy who’d be cr@p at Poker. 😁

Then I told him how awful it is that Tracc being here probs won’t even make the news since it’s a good news thing. Keith pointed to a reporter being filmed reporting on the session. He dared me to tell them what I think about their gutter journalism. Not one to ever back down from a challenge, I did exactly that. The reporter’s name is Adrian and he’s with channel 10. Spewing it wasn’t Tom Morris, but then I would’ve been the top news story tonight for all the wrong reasons. 🤪 He said they were gonna meet with their producer etc. and work out which way to approach the reporting. Fear not fellow Demonlanders, Adrian was told in no uncertain terms how WE believe today should be reported. And if I’m not mistaken, I believe he may’ve peed his pants a little. I may be small, but [censored] with my team and I’m effectively 10 feet tall.

Speaking of height, no Claz today so I walked to AAMI with KFW. I asked him what his official height is and he said he still hasn’t been measured but he thinks he’s 6ft10 😳 He said when he stands next to Max he feels like he’s the same height as him, “sometimes a little taller.” Again… 😳 And yes, I said that might just be because of his hair coupled with Max’s lack of.

Finally, when everyone had left Tracc was lightly jogging/walking  around the boundary with Selwyn. As he passed I said, “Hey Tracc, just want you to know we all love you.” He said, “Cheers, thanks for that.” with a smile that could stop world wars. Then I met another spectator who reads DL but doesn’t post, a lovely lady, We chatted for a bit and in that time Tracc came past again. I said, “Hey Tracc, just want you to know nothing’s changed since I last told you… we still all love you.” He laughed and said, “Awesome! See you next lap.” 😂

In summary, a fantastic session. The mood was incredibly good. The quiet achiever aka Goody had a look of pride on his face that was heartwarming and I hope to keep seeing it.

I agree, with Jaded, WCW, you are a national treasure! Do these boys get any training done with you around?

I reckon it shows the power of forgiveness, Trac had the guts to get up and talk to the players, i'm sure it's gone an enormous way with a lot of them and it's really nice to hear that even though we can't make finals the players are happy and energised. time for a big pre season and a big bounce back in 2025.

I attended training and said to trac "trac I hope that you get better soon." He replied thank you.

Chin, Petty, Salem, and Lever were doing rehab on boundary. Steven May was training, but wearing a hat.

The training was an easy session with a lot of kicking soccer balls, goal kicking from angles under control of Mark Williams, and kick to kick.  I assume this to help with recovery from in the heat on Saturday.

It is easy for me to get to training as I live in Richmond, and can walk there.

Geez Dit u could have ask trac WTF is going on then I hope u get better!!

If I ever manage to leave Seattle and get back to Melbourne, I am so hanging with you at training.  Last I was able to get to training was when we were down at the Junction oval, which is a wee while ago.  I was also too shy to talk much to anyone.

Thanks for the reports, things seem much happier now in Demonland.

Same!

Whatever it is, I hope he's getting the help he needs.

Such a great talent that shouldn't be wasted.

Luker is an awesome kid. Settling well in Melbourne (he always gives me updates). He’s rapidly filling out and is “giving it everything” re training and fitness. He told me he copped an elbow to the face during play on Saturday. He still has the lumps and bruises to show for it. I told him I was there and saw it happen. He said, “and did you think now he’s not a pretty face?” I said, “Luker, you could have all your facial features smashed in and you’d still be a gorgeous boy.” He smiled and actually blushed. I said, “Geez, if I was a hundred years younger!” 😂😂😂

Who is Luker??

Luker Kentfield 18yo 194cm forward picked up mid year draft.😁

Thanks WCW your reports are a treat and your devotion is unbelievable. Out of interest do the players and staff address you by your real name or WCW?

When is the next session? Thursday perhaps. I know the question was asked re Ollie Sestan but he didn't get a mention in your dispatches.

I suspect WCW you have provided us with the most significant thread/contribution from you for the year with the focus on and breaking the Trac story and accompanying content.

We're all sleeping better tonight.  Now a lead story online in the AGE but with interestingly no leaking of meeting content, just that it occurred.

Much appreciated.

That's the closest we've had to a sage post.  About thyme, too.

Grate (sic) follow-ups to this everybody.

I'm surprised, though, no-one has speculated that Trac's issues are over his celery.

Or maybe he's still ginger from his injuries?

Too much more growth in the apparently mutually comfortable familiarity you have built around the training track this year, @WalkingCivilWar, and we're going to see you named in the forward (note emphasis) pocket!

Boot Studder Emeritus is a Walk-up, at least.

This is such an important point.

One of the (many) things that really frustrates me about how footy is covered by the media is the thread of blatant hyprocicy that runs through it.

Take the way clarry's situation has been covered

Media people love to bang on how great footy clubs are in terms of 'wrapping their arms around' players who are experiencing personal issues.

But then all season they get stuck into clarry and the club because it's great for clicks.

And give the club very little, if any, kudos for how they have wrapped their arms around claz and support him through what is probably the most difficult period of his young life.

And, similarly don't give claz kudos for his commitment and the work he is doing.

It's particularly galling when it's ex players who are being hypocritical given every one of them would understand how challenging the whole thing us.

Even more galling is the completely disingenuous coverage about all things players struggling with mental health issues.

Actually, disingenuous is being kind. The media is a huge part of the problem and rarely a meaningful part of the solution.

As long as it’s not rude and especially if it’s their actual nickname you can call a player whatever you like. It’s a training report by a poster on a forum. They aren’t journalists. If you don’t know a nickname just ask and someone will let you know. WCW and I don’t often get along but I’m glad for her reports and I don’t expect her to be spelling out surnames.

Awwww you’re a sweetheart.

I was told that Nibber had already gone to Adelaide for personal reasons. I was not told how long for.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
