Whilst admitted they haven't been vocal, which may or may not be a good thing depending on view point.
I do regularly seeing Roffey at the player gates on the field after games, so confirming she is visible.ย

Sheโ€™s also in the rooms after every match, win or lose. She spends a substantial amount of time speaking with the players and coaches after every match, win or lose.ย

Of course, her time could be better spent addressing the fans publicly because, you know, that would achieve sooooo much more. ๐Ÿ™„

It's completely fair to question the board, who has failed to deliver us a home base, a platform on which they were elected and have been very vocal on. Progress has been made, but it seems slow.

I also understand that sometimes fans just want to hear from the 'leader' and be reassured, but frankly there is nothing Roffey could come out and say that would truly ease the angst amongst the supporter base. If she says anything, you'd have half the supporters saying she's just paying lip service, and the other half saying she should concentrate on running the club not making statements. It is a no win scenario.

I do think that Pert and Richardson could certainly do some media in relation to our on field performance and what the focus is going to be heading into 2025. Whereas I prefer the board deal with board matters such as a home base, not football matters like our game plan or list management.

I agree except for one thing.

I donโ€™t like hearing from Pert in the media. Thereโ€™s just something about him I canโ€™t quite handle.

Like all club presidents do.

There is nothing groundbreaking about this information.ย

She is a leader of the footy club. Come out and be one. Jeff Browne from Collingwood has come out several times this year and defended his footy club over certain issues regarding the recent racial story, defending the Daicos father son discussion, as well as the on field performance.ย

If she's not sitting down and twiddling her thumbs then what exactly is she doing? I think members absolutely have the right to question this.

When she was brought into the club in 2021 she was well renowned for her ability to build connections and negotiate deals around sporting facilities. I was excited about this appointment initially.ย

As it stands 3 years on we still have no home base nor are we any closer to any announcement where this is at.

As it currently stands, Roffey is copping criticism anyway, so at least if one of the senior leaders - Roffey, Pert or Richardson - came out to acknowledge the supporter angst they would feel heard. I would be very disappointed if they decided not to communicate because they feared criticism.

I might be off with my thoughts, but my feeling is deep down supporters know they would all be working hard behind the scenes, they'd be addressing this specific issue however is best, but I think supporters like to feel heard and value feeling like they're actually a part of the club, not just there to support, but to belong. It feels like it's been a while since we've heard from them as it stands.

Kate comes across as a very intelligent person, speaks well, present well, I'm sure we can trust her enough to be able to make us all feel heard without adding more fuel to the fire or giving too much away.

Just my thoughts, I've read Demonland for a while and very much appreciate how dedicated and passionate yourself and the rest of the Dee Army are WalkingCivilWar.

I honestly donโ€™t think theyโ€™re avoiding speaking publicly because of fear of criticism.

I believe itโ€™s the futility of it. What would any of those three say publicly thatโ€™s any different to what Goody is saying publicly? Besides, theyโ€™re copping criticism as it is, why would they be concerned about copping more?

Itโ€™s another damned if you do, damned if you donโ€™t situation.

ย

Thank you for acknowledging the Demon Army. And can I just add that our biggest fan by far and away is Kate. She does so much behind the scenes to ensure we have what we need and our concerns are addressed, especially in regards to the AFLW and VFLW sides and Casey; they donโ€™t get enough support compared to the AFL side. Again, according to some, that would be time better spent addressing the public.

I just want her to deliver a home base. She's been on the board long enough now to have made more headway with this project. Thats her area of expertise and specialisation. If she can't deliver this then not sure what the point of her on the board is.

And what other board has delivered on this home base?

Jeff Browne coming out publicly and defending his club with predictable comments makes him a more competent president?

Personally Iโ€™d rather someone who is working behind the scenes in the role of Club President.

For mine her biggest job is to land a home base. They're aiming for Caulfield and will have to build from scratch. Making this happen is going to take a masterstroke from someone at the club, I'll hold judgement on her tenure until we see what unfolds. I'm guessing Caulfield is a safe Liberal seat so the club's going to need to find some serious cash as pork barrelling looks unlikely.

There yโ€™all goโ€ฆ an email from Pert. Right on cue. ๐Ÿ˜

What other Club Presidents have you heard from lately?

John Olsen

Andrew Wellington?

Luke Sayers?

Mark Korda?

David Barham?

Kylie Watson-Wheeler?

Grant McCabe?

Andy Gowers?

I could go on... and on... and on...

ย

Pretty tough for Mark Korda to comment as he isnโ€™t the President of the filth. That would be Jeff Browne.ย

Playing devils advocate, are you privy to each clubs member communication to make this call?ย

I'm not sure if others have said as such, but I certainly don't think Kate should spend all her time addressing the public rather than working in and around our club. I do however think it's important to recognize that it's the supporters and members who keep the club afloat, and who will outlast any club official, coach, player etc, so communicating with them is a vitally important part of being the president in my opinion. I don't think it's either/or.

It sounds like Pert is about to put out a statement, so I'm glad they have acted quickly to communicate with us as passionate demons fans. I'm sure it won't give anything away or say anything earth shattering, but that feeling of belonging and being valued is as important as always to our beloved club in the current circumstances.

I often feel for Goody. He's clearly not comfortable with media and public speaking in that way, but he fronts up more than anyone and does it. That's toughness in my books. I believe that quality would be one of the things that has endeared him to the playing group (a guess, of course as I wouldn't actually know).

I agree with this 100%ย

I know we throw heat his way and certainly I have from my end regarding on field performance, but full respect to him in always fronting up and facing the music. I feel bit awkward watching and get a sense he's uncomfortable at times.

This is where sometimes I wish the likes of Pert and Roffey would stand up and take the heat off him.

Well you got your wish. Pert with what I think is a pretty good statement.

Not sugar coating the disappointing season, clear that we are already reviewing what went wrong, and emphatic that Trac is going nowhere.

Can't ask for much more right now. Of course the proof is always in the pudding.

You guessed right. ๐Ÿ™‚

Eddie McGuire and Kochy are available. Maybe we could recruit either of them to negotiate the Caulfield training base with a megaphone.ย

Geez Louiseโ€ฆ the threads that are created when weโ€™re not going well. Whatโ€™s next? โ€œIs the boot-studder the right guy?โ€ ๐Ÿ˜

None. Whatโ€™s your point?

I was expecting more dynamite in this thread.

Look, to be honest, it is hard to know precisely what Kate is like as a leader, but I'm not a fan of the board. They had one important job RE facilities and very little has happened. And to put it mildly, they appear hostile to differing views.

I much prefer leaders to operate quietly and collaboratively in the background, an Eddie McGuire or Jeff Kennett type would [censored] me up the wall.

So I prefer to hear less, but the president and her board need to ensure the facilities are sorted by the time the likes of Trac are done. Any longer would be a disaster.

I have heard this morning that a lot of player frustration sits around having the worst training conditions in the league - ย seeing what all other clubs have (now including Bulldogs and North Melb) - ย we are miles behind high performance and players think Roffey / Pert have failed and dragged players along with promises - ย they hate driving out to Casey.

Canโ€™t see funding from the Government coming anytime soon for a home base. Was in Melbourne last month and felt like being back in Mumbai. Obviously no funds to even clean up rubbish from around the streets, sides of the freeway, or to remove weeds or cut overgrown grasses.ย
