We've signed him to a long term deal so we've protected the clubs interest. If he leaves it will be on our terms not his.

Exactly what was the incompetence?     Can't be the immediate dealing with the injury because they needed 2 goes at a fully equipped hospital to get it right. It can't be incompentence by not getting 60,000 to every game - lack of miracles is not incompetence. So of all the things rumoured where the club had any control, how it dealt with Clarry is the only rational possibility.   And maybe the club dealt with that well.

I wonder if @goodwindees has any mail…

Considering that Trac is struggling mentally with the trauma he's been through, I would think he would now appreciate the way the club wrapped their arms around Clarry when he was struggling mentally, rather then throw him out with yesterday's rubbish.

This is an incredibly important point. McKay signed a 7 year deal and is all in with Carlton. How would the playing group feel if the club said "listen, thanks but we want Trac more, bye". 

If the situation was reversed and McKay wanted out, and we said you can have Trac, how would the fans and the playing group feel?

I didn’t bite as a result of something I read on here. I can’t remember where I heard it but I know Goody uttered those words. I can deep dive through everything I’ve read/heard to find it but I don’t have the time nor patience. Besides, what does anyone expect the Club to say when they’re questioned about what Petracca’s future is… of course they’re gonna say he’s staying because until he officially leaves… he’s staying, right?

Also the egg on their faces comment is ridiculous. They are making statements based on what they know currently. How can they look silly when he leaves if they don’t yet know he’s leaving??!!!

Not wanting to sound Machiavellian here but if there’s any truth in what the HUN’s Jay Clark is writing, then it could end up backfiring on the Carlton Football Club which is, after all, still involved in a finals series:-

“The move would blindside McKay, similar to the way Collingwood punted Brodie Grundy two years ago and Carlton shipped off young forward Josh Kennedy in the blockbuster Chris Judd trade back in 2007.”

There might well be some negative implications if a move to them by Petracca turns out disrupting this season and the future. 

Like all Demon fans, I want our player to be happy, healthy and play out his career as a one club champion. Time to take a deep breath, relax and concentrate on the all important return to full fitness without this politicking around his future.

I asked a similar question and can only assume it was the treatment of Clarry that is intended.   It may have been done well or been mistaken as seen by Tracc, but neither is necesarily "unprofessional".  The word is easy to throw around when people want to spit the dummy.

I'm afraid that while we have some supporters here who wear rose-tinted glasses, we have some who jump at anything negative and always assume the worst.   Something in the middle is best, but if I have to make a choice, I prefer the former.

Note the most important line in the article is " Trac wont ask for a trade for fear of further inflaming the situation"

There is tension and some bridges to repair, but if Trac doesn't formally ask to go, he stays where he is. Wasn't it a few years ago that Sam Maclure had Clarry upset with the club and heading of to Carlton (whom he barracks for). I have heard this story before.

For what it is worth a former board member told me Friday night at a club function that Trac is not himself at the moment and post trauma he is very unsettled.
