I think Damo’s being sarcastic here - it appears that the tide has turned against The Brand.

Methinks head office has had enough of this rubbish and is sending its mouthpiece out accordingly

So let me get this straight, the meeting at Gawn’s bar had someone from the public leak details and now this other casual drinks with players has been leaked. How dumb can you be?

The rustic Marion Wine Bar in Gertrude St, Fitzroy, was the scene for a peculiar little gathering of Melbourne players on Tuesday night.

Clearly, the players didn't seem to care - or they thought they couldn't be heard — by the table of serious football fans sitting at the next table.

The pleasant surprise seeing AFL players on a windy Tuesday night was one thing, their astonishment at what the players - clearly frustrated - were saying about Christian Petracca was another.

So much so, notes were taken.

Words such as "weird" were heard, and how Petracca's "weirdness" was accepted at Melbourne, but would not be accepted at another club.

Players are being payed too much if they have drinks at Marion, its exxy rustic!

If they have a drink at the Napier/Rose/Town Hall/Standard I'll report back!

For any early risers, I've been covering the night shift from here in Europe. Nothing significant to report so far. You're probably safe to go and put on the kettle and do your morning stretches in preparation for another big day of refreshing.

Appreciate your commitment @Skuit. Means I can do some paid work this morning. My employer passes on their thanks as well.

On second reading you are definitely right. Haven’t had my coffee yet and at this point no level of ridiculous takes from the AFL media would shock me.

Thanks for pointing out!

Just so angry and upset that our club has once again found a way to implode from the President poor response to what’s been occurring in our club since winning the flag. Basically issues not resolved to a point were our best player who only after signing a long contract spoke so highly of the club etc I’m also equally at Trac. If this is the case as part of a long contract & a leader comes with  responsibility to be a part of the solution!  A thorough review is needed and heads need to role regardless of who they are !

It's impossible at this point to predict where all this is headed, and how this shambles will be resolved. Review or not, the club will be unstable for months. The likelihood is that Petracca will leave. It's  likely that no big name  players would be induced to go to Melbourne in a trade. This means going for high draft picks which also means a club Petracca doesn't want to go to. Where Goodwin sits in this is equally impossible to predict.

I'll tell him No.31 says hi.

I think he's opened another place near the top end of Smith St recently?

The irony of people having a crack at Petracca's partner is that Trac has credited her with giving him a kick up the [censored] in 2019 to take his career more seriously. Leading him to adopting better professional standards for himself and fulfilling his talent in the following years. So maybe people should also give her credit for helping him turn into one of the best players in the comp and being instrumental in our flag.

The point I think that bears noting is he isn't ( seemingly ) self driven.

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The first round draft pick at #13 from twelve months ago the strongly built medium forward has had an impressive introduction to AFL football and is expected to spend more midfield moments as his career progresses. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

2024 Player Reviews: #5 Christian Petracca

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
