It’s actually rather ironic. When you’re faced with this sort of behaviour you’re the first to cry ‘bullying’, yet you seem to take no issue with being the biggest contrarian; or you’re just deliberately obtuse.

Collingwood supporters hold the coaches & Board accountable otherwise they torch the place while Melbourne supporters tend to kneel down & tug their forelocks & cop the spin from the Club.

Personally and this is only my thoughts, I feel that the new game plan is starting to take shape, it is a faster more daring and taxing game style that we managed against the Hawks for three quarters where we should have been 4-5 goals up at 3/4 time, it was our own poor conversion and some very poor umpiring decisions that stopped us from being in a winning position, that is despite having six of the poorest eight Performers on the ground. We now have a core of players that have the skills to help develop and actually move forward with this game style however we need to be more ruthless at selection and only play those that are totally committed and prepared to bleed for the club. The coaches can only teach they can’t kick the goals but they can insist on minimum standards and enforce them.

No matter how disappointing our season has been to date and no matter how toxic this site has become, it's comforting to know that we can always rely on turning on each other to help us cope with the tough times.

We had our chances against the Hawks. The coach can only set the pieces up, it is up to the players to execute. Fritsch, Spargo, Windsor missing absolute sitters, JVR dropping a sitter of a mark, Koz getting legged in the goal square.

I do agree some of his moves/selections are bewildering, I would've preferred to see another defender brought in for Jefferson and Turner up forward or even try JVR in defence for a period. Hawks forward line isn't overly tall either so could've got away with an undersized defender.

I might have missed something here, but 7 best 23 players out? Who were they? Day and Scrimshaw were out. Lewis was out, but he's barely on the park these days. Calsher Dear? Is he best 23 these days with Gunston's renaissance? Who else?

We weren't exactly full strength by the way, missing Lever, Viney, Petty and Melksham.

There's an element of poor coaching to the ongoing inaccuracy but that's equally, if not more, on the players.

The phrase "he's out of form as a coach" is pretty meaningless but assuming coaches "form" works like players' form, he coached brilliantly against Fremantle just three weeks earlier and coached well enough against Richmond and West Coast.

I'm not yet convinced that Goodwin has sufficiently righted the ship to warrant being here next year (payout implications aside), but I don't think last week was nearly as bad as your post is making it out to be.

Meanwhile as to the other discussion taking place on this thread, I find the forum not necessarily negative/hurtful as it is pessimistic (just my personal experience), and it's easy IMO to understand why: it's easier to be pessimistic than optimistic.

Getting your hopes up, and/or your expectations, runs the risk that they'll be crushed. Being pessimistic generally means you're right more than you're wrong - if the bar is winning flags, you are almost always going to be on the right side of the fence by being pessimistic about our chances as flags are hard enough to win when you're going as well as Geelong and Sydney have been going for the last 20 years, let alone when you're us.

And of course, if you're pessimistic but wrong, that means we're succeeding, and you're either not going to be called out, or if you are, you can hide behind the team's success.

Meanwhile, if you're optimistic but wrong, that means we're failing, and you're sure as [censored] going to be called out.

It's just easier to be pessimistic, and over time, I think more and more on here have found themselves swayed to that position.

The 7 Hawthorn players that would easily play in Hawthorn's first final that didn't play on Saturday are:

Day, Scrimshaw, Nash, Lewis, Dear, McKenzie and Barrass.

I've asked Hawthorn supporting friends and colleagues and then checked on the Hawks Bigfooty Forum. They were all in furious agreement that all those players are clear best 23, or in Lewis's case best 23 when fit.

Yeah XL and Langford look very, very good. As does McVee, especially coupled with Bowey hitting form again.

If Windsor can tidy up some of his disposal too that’ll go a long way.

Personally think we need to start getting depth back on the list via nailing second and third rounders, not sure we can afford to keep trading up the draft order with Tasmania coming in, but we’ll see what happens.

They gave Buckley plenty of time. And they wouldn't have sacked him in 2021 had they won in 2018. That's what gives coaches time.

Chris scott got a flag in his first year (which he probably can't take full credit for) and took 11 years to win another.

More specifically, it’s the mind-numbing repetition that drives me nuts. Eg. We went out in straight sets in ‘22 and ‘23. This is repeated at every possible opportunity, and if no opportunity presents itself? Hell, let’s mention it anyways.

It’s also the contamination of threads like the NON-MFC thread. Every single week someone has to pot Goody and/or our club in this thread despite it being NON-MFC. I choose to avoid certain threads because I don’t wanna read such posts; that’s my prerogative. But it’s becoming increasingly harder to avoid when it seems every thread is fair game.

Edit: the irony’s not lost on me. I’m actually posting in the Time To Go Goody thread. Dunno how I landed here but am proud to have weathered it 😅
