No, I blame the board.

They installed Pert (a disaster) instead of those PJ put forward, and then allowed messy legal battles to play out over Goody's head for at least 12-18 months.

And every club in the land has the same constraints vis a vis COVID, that's not a reasonable excuse. We got unlucky with Burgess wanting to move home. I think had we had him across 2022-2023 we'd have at least another flag, but the personnel inside the FD have clearly let standards plummet and continue to do so.

This - 100% this. Imagine thinking you knew better than PJ! Unforgivable, and a damning indictment of the board.

and what exactly do you want him to do right now Kent?

Goodwin is done, personally i wish he had been replaced after the ‘23 Season, but that wasn’t to be

Who replaces him?

They’ve got to be a serious Coach to get this list firing

Quick reactions often backfire

We need Top Shelf

I am hoping the same process is taking place with the CEO

To quote the great man:

"No, we don't need a premiership coach, but we need a very good coach" (PJ, prior to Roos being appointed)

I agree with you Sir was calling for new coach end of 23

Green can't do anything I suppose until the next Pres comes back from the Amalfi coast

On return if he does return we need a board spill and get some members who will act

Smith if sane would probably not continue after his holiday

I'm watching GWS vs St Kilda.

They play in a way we can only dream of at the moment (10 mins in the 3rd quarter last night... sure).

We need to fix the football department before a Board spill Kent

Current board with no ceo cannot fix the football department

If the Sponsors and Coterie Groups make enough noise things can happen. I don’t know the current situation with the CEO negotiations. Of Course it would be much better to have the Position locked in.

But how much longer are people prepared to wait?

We can’t play 4 Quarters

I can’t see us winning a game this year on current form

The Best thing Brad could do this week is to begin the long search….

There will be many vacancies

Great. Go back to the days when the Coterie’s have too much say in how the club runs itself.

Bring back Neeld as well 🥴

Hi FG, how do we contact the club? I've only ever seen a membership email address

Brad is Mia needs a strong statement of intent.we won't get it because he isn't independent of a poor board and self interested members

No one is independent of the Board when they are sitting on the Board

Brad joined the board in November 2020. He and the board have been asleep at the wheel.

The FD report directly to the board. The board is accountable.

We will never know what the review unearthed, I have been calling out our inability to trade in quality exp fwds etc and unsure why they have never been linked to any names except for Houston, do they have cap space issues? Was playing Oliver in the seniors after missing preseason split the group? Question is why has it taken so long to appoint a CEO as he quit end of Oct???

Coterie Groups have always had a fair voice at Board Level

Many of them put in 6 figure amounts each year…

We had 16 premiership players in the team

This is not a lack of talent despite many players being out of form.

This is squarely on the coaching dept. 10 losses from the past 11 games is ALL on the coaches

They are clueless

Goody, Fd, Board ... clueless

This IS salvageable.... for 26 onwards... but time is now...... NOW

I know you blame the Board. Your Candidate wasn’t elected.

Losing Burgess was a HUGE loss that was out of anyone’s control, yes i believe it cost us a Flag… But you cannot blame the Board for that

Losing Burgess and Brendan Mc Carthy has really cost us BIG TIME!

Sorry you are wrong it is a lack of talent and skills and run, as I said in an earlier post decisions on senior players need to be called

Sorry, it is a lack of talent if the club is serious hard decisions need to be made on senior players by dropping them, Viney is a liability in the midfield Oliver just jogged around chasing stops we have players who lack football smarts, and we were in the right spot right time for a flag and it's gone downhill since, Goodwin mentioned the problems with the forward line in 22 onwards and it's been the same thing and we haven't solved it now.

Choco did this with Dusty at Richmond, I had always hoped he would do the same with Clarry.

It appears, not so much.

We have not had any players put on bulk muscle for years. Petty and Jed Adam’s can’t play key position as they are not strong enough. We need some proper sports high performance trainers

Our list on paper still has enough talent on there to bounce back up immediately

Don't disagree with all you're saying, though there's some serious cherry-picking going on there.

But this for me is the crux of it and a point I'd disagree with. Our list has massive holes in it. Massive. And until that's addressed, the rest is just window dressing and deck-chair-moving.

We just had an independent review of the football department, and have apparently implemented its recommendations.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
