interesting.  I would have thought it would be at least 50-50

or maybe the 20% are louder than the rest on here!

On the net, a reasonably small amount of people  can look like a lot ... especially when they repeat themselves 100+ times!

The Neeld Poll was weird

After his first year, 97% of people wanted him to stay on and see out his contract

In fact, the anti Neeld brigade was very small and the 2 posters that stood out were tonotopia & hardnut. And both of them copped it left, right and centre

I often wonder what happened to those two!

Feels like a reset would do the club a world of good. Too much stagnation, too much in-fighting, too many spotfires to continue putting out. Too much laid on the shoulders of Gawn and Viney when Goodwin and Richo should be getting this stuff under control. The rot has been festering for the better part of two years now.

Club should be doing an external review. An internal review run by the people who allowed this situation to manifest  seems like an utterly pointless exercise, Pert is the king of spin and Roffey seems woefully out of her depth.

Kozzycan you make a lot of unsupported statements that you obviously glean from the press and the disenfranchised on this site.
However, you fail to provide any details to support your opinion and in the same instance fail to take on board any of the more wiser and informed posters that have explained in quite significant detail the causes and effects that have lead to our demise in 2024.

And Yes I disagree that we should bring in a bunch of outsiders to try and fathom out our shortcomings when we already have a good handle on what the answers are. I say support the club and wait and see what flows from this review and I am prepared to back Pert and Goodwin who have clearly flagged that they are up for the fight.

Unsupported comments that I gleaned from reporting.

Hardly unsupported then? Why would I believe posters on this site over actual journalists whose jobs it is to find this stuff out? Peter Ryan is a very good journalist and I would put a lot of stock into his article from today.

Do you deny that the club has stagnated this year? Do you deny that there has been infighting? Do you deny that the club hasn't had to put out constant spotfires?

I'm not going to stick my head in the sand and pretend everything is sunshine and roses.

Pert and Goodwin told us they were going to fix our issues last off-season. They told us to judge the club on what they do. Well it's been nearly 12 months and our best player is disgruntled and want's out. Oliver has struggled since he hurt his hand and has been forced to play through injury and poor fitness all season. We are losing games by the biggest margins in five years. Why should I believe they can get it done this time around?

No one wants to play for him. Trac, Kossie, Nibbler. The fish rotts at the head. Goodwin has to fall on his own sword.

No one wants to listen to your poorly constructed vitriol! Kossie does play for him! Nibbler has made his reasons for leaving explicit, along with saying "If I could move the whole club to Adelaide with me I would", although he did add a post script along the lines of, "just don't let WERRIDEE cross the border!"

If they played for him they would want to still be around but they don't. The club is rotten to the core and Goodwin has to take responsibility. He and the board that wants him there need to be given the sack. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

"While the trip was set to be a heartwarming time for him and Ardu, he also chose to generously share it with four other important people within his life - Simon Goodwin (Senior Coach), Shane McAdam (AFL player), Clayton Oliver (AFL player), and Matt Whelan (Indigenous Projects Officer)."

Houston.....we have a problem 😕

Clear the decks and get a fresh start as a minimum in the Footy Department (Goodwin/Richardson) should be the minimum all is not well in the football part of the club is the clear message from what's happening.

Pert & Roffey can then get out the door as well.

You could build a 22 of blokes that don’t want to play for him, amirite?

I said it somewhere else - I think the next 6 months will be the making of Goodwin.

He’s not an abrasive coach, say what you will about his style and the drawbacks of being a ‘players coach’ but he is that. CP5 has issues with how we have handled him and with our ‘brand’, ANB and Kozzie are homesick - they are hardly on SG. Culture is definitely in his gamut of responsibility but more so for Gawn and the leaders, noting that ‘culture’ is a misnomer at clubs - they are all works in progress battling the issues of a collection of 20 something blokes.

I think we have the right person in that role for right now.

We have gone backwards at a rapid rate of knots since our first double elimination. What did we do, we pick up Grundy who we assumed was going to kick goals. Stupid move. After several concussions to Brayshaw ,surely we didn't have a backup plan for his replacement as he was not far from retiring due medical reasons. Guess what it happened. Who was going to replace Oliver or Petracca if they got injured? We did end up using Rivers as a mid , this should have been done after the first double elimination also we needed to pick up mids. We have plenty of ex senior coaches , doing a variety of what? Surely one of those coaches should have been the reserves coach. Why does a club need a CEO and a President ? think how much money could be saved by only have one. If Godwin leaves Petracca probably will stay (hoping) ,if Petracca I will support another club.

The club is a shambles once again

It’s really not. It would be disappointing to lose Trac but no player is bigger than the club

Thats a fine opinion to have if you are a Geelong with Ablett or Hawthorn with Buddy. You are kidding yourself if you think we are, we are currently an absolute shambles.

Goody said last offseason to judge us on the field and not by these offseason stories. Well, we finished 14th, played the most boring football imaginable to the point crowds stopped showing up and the off field issues keep coming.

Not a hard judgement to make id think. Him, Roffey and Pert have to go.

Trac’s not even bigger than Gawn let alone the club.

Norf are 10 years into a rebuild and won 3 games. They’re a shambles.

Tiges entire list is leaving. They’re in trouble.

We’re under the pump no doubt but burning the joint down doesn’t make 2025 better, it sets us back a decade. Changes to be made no doubt, but panicking doesn’t help anything.

If you think we will be fine without Trac and he is the only one with issues you need your head read. Just so happens that two of our most professional players want out in the same offseason and now Kozzy is suddenly feeling a bit homesick too. Read the room.

Im glad this happening two years before Tassie and not when they arrive. The club needs a reset right now. Carrying on with the people we have in charge for another 12 months thinking everything is fine will only extend the misery and make it harder to get the club back on course.

What a hotchpotch of amazing events you have cobbled together accusing the Club of not having multiple PlanB’s for all these instances.

Yes Brody wasn’t our finest selection, but your replacement answer for Angus is breathtaking. Angus had not had a concussion since 2017  when he was crudely and once in a life time happening cruelly perpetrated by a thug.

Sorry  we don’t have Bont or Cripps running around at Casey waiting for the same time injury or fitness halts both our champs.

Riv has proved a good substitute andbperhsps Kossie  could be given more time on the ball.

Our senior Coaches are selected before the Casey job and that mix is normal for an AFL club.

You are completely misguided about Perty and Kate. Both jobs are vastly different and. CRO is the most vital administrator of all. The president to my knowledge is an honourable position and not paid.

Trac has already indicated that Simon is not an issue and your 6 yo comment about changing Clubs  if we lose Trac is a kindergarten or primary school approach,

Grow up and support the Club after 5/6 years of success.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
