Interestingly they have FOS slipping to the Saints, with Jagga being taken by Carlton

Yep... usually the top 4 or 5 are agreed with perhaps some discussion over the order (usually number 1 is obvious) but the whole top 10 this year is up in the air.

Strange year... could make for a big spreadsheet for the recruiters as to the changing scenarios on draft night

Also says that Adelaide will pick Smith if he gets to them. With the same intel in the Herald Sun this morning it looks like Jagga may end up being out of reach for us sadly.

I'd settle for Langford!

Apparently his floor is the Bont and his ceiling is Cripps, or is that the other way around 😉

It's odd that nobody ever mentions Neil Erasmus, Brodie Kemp, Paddy Dow, Will Setterfield, Will Brodie or Jackson Hateley.

This would mean with pick 5 we’d be picking between 2 of Langford/FOS/Draper, wouldn’t it? Assuming norf take Tauru of course

We don’t mention those names because Jason Taylor didn’t draft them and clearly there’s a reason for that 😂

Draper won’t get past Adelaide.

One of Langford, Smith or FOS for us.

Sounds like FOS may slide to our pick. I haven't bothered looking at him properly due to assuming he'd be pick 1-2. He was awesome last year, but was limited by playing injured this year. Anyone got an opinion of if he'd be the best option at 5 for us should he be available?

He smashed testing at the combine, so looks a great athlete as well as being a renowned impactful ball user...

O’Sullivan could go at 1 or anywhere down to 6.  He’s a star though. Lots of AFL qualities.

If it’s a choice of Smith, O’Sullivan or Langford.

it’s like choosing between a BMW, a Porsche and a Mercedes.

Any choice would be excellent !!!

FROM THE HERALD SUN

Adelaide may be forced to give up a future second-round pick to move two spots up this year’s draft order as part of a bold play for Victorian midfielder Jagga Smith.

The Crows currently hold pick 4 in next Wednesday’s national draft but have held discussions with North Melbourne about the possibility of trading up to pick 2.

It is believed that the player in Adelaide’s sights is Smith, a prolific ball-winning midfielder who captained Vic Metro at the under-18 national championships.

Rival clubs believe the Crows are fearful that Carlton would select Smith at pick 3 if Adelaide remains at pick 4.

Smith has been arguably the best-performed underage footballer in the country this year, with recruiters describing him as a “bankable” high-end prospect and future AFL captain.

The 18-year-old would add a different dynamic to the Crows’ midfield with his speed and agility.

He averaged 33.3 disposals, 7.9 clearances and 154 ranking points from 12 games for the Oakleigh Chargers in the Coates Talent League this year.

It is understood that Adelaide recently offered North Melbourne pick 4 and two future third-round selections in exchange for pick 2, but the offer was knocked back.

The Kangaroos are believed to be eyeing pick 4 and a future second-round selection to get the deal done.

The pre-draft pick swap window closed last Friday, but clubs are still able to make live trades during the draft.

Richmond is still expected to take midfielder-forward Sam Lalor with the No.1 pick.

North Melbourne has been linked to midfielder Finn O’Sullivan in recent days if it holds on to pick 2, despite long being favoured to select exciting 193cm utility Alix Tauru.

If Adelaide was to beat Carlton to Smith, the Blues could nab South Australian Sid Draper.

Carlton coach Michael Voss and list manager Nick Austin flew to Adelaide in the past week to meet with the explosive midfielder.

If North Melbourne was to overlook Tauru at pick 2, he would not be expected to get past Melbourne at pick 5 given the Demons are big fans of the Gippsland Power high-flyer.

Richmond looks almost certain to select big-bodied midfielder Josh Smillie with pick 6, while Brisbane Lions father-son prospect Levi Ashcroft is also expected to receive a bid within the first six picks.

Might need to give footy a miss next year if we take a key back

As much as Tauru has huge potential it's going to take a fair bit of time for him to realise it. Think I'd feel a bit flat if we ended up with him at 5 rather than the premium mid I'd been thinking we'd take. Getting him at 9 would be a different story, would be stoked with that.

Tauru. Prefer to get him at 9 (like an elite midfielder at 5)

Marketing team would love Tauru

Adelaide trading up for Smith? Who what where now? This has red herring all over it. The games afoot.

Seems like now Lawlor is the only lock at 1. There's no way Adelaide trade up for a player that that from all reports could very well be available with their original pick.

Also I just CAN'T see them passing on Draper.

Anywho I'll now wait for Cal's phantom.

Tauru isn’t just a key back. Can play forward and most recruiters think he’ll eventually be a midfield option.

Seems like your typical strong bodied power mid with a lot to offer around the ground.

I was the same in not bothering to look at him but these types of players aren't going out of fashion anytime soon.

This is going to be Jackson vs Serong, Young, Green, ect all over again 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Jackson worked out well for the flag, and we turned him into Windsor and hopefully another gun in Jeffo. Just the way it goes. Don't think anyone argues with our decision when they have a medal round their neck.

I still think we may off load 9, maybe to fremantle for 14 and 30.  Freo jumps up to get Allen and I think there is still enough quality at both 14 and 30

Spot on. I reckon North have played this beautifully if they get an F2 out of Adelaide and pick him at 4.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.
