I’m stunned.

Two weeks ago I was told he still had an offer from Adelaide.

I love him as a defender. Not so much as a forward.

He was serviceable today in a woeful team though.

Good signing, spewing we didn't do a 5 year deal as I recon he would have signed for a lot less than 12 months ago.

Ge will be part of our back due with Lever once May hangs them up

We needed to sign him up. We will likely draft more mids this year and May and T Mc getting on.

We likely have talls coming in 2025. Kalani White F/S and Tairon Ah-Mu a 198/199 cm bottom age forward/ruck with Dandenong stingrays in between school footy..  He is a member of our Academy program. Project tall.

Probably wrong thread but shows importance of extending Harry with so many young project tall players on our books.

Ah-Mu has certainly announced himself with a selection of sensational APS performances to start the year. The versatile tall, who is still in his bottom-age year, had 21 disposals, 30 hit-outs and went forward to kick four goals on Saturday. He is also part of Melbourne’s Next Generation Academy."

I think we need to keep quiet on this bloke before the AFL decides they can hold off on any NGA changes for a few years yet.

when was that?

with the changed rules expected to come in for 2025, we might actually be allowed to take him too

Let’s hope he never has to ruck again because we find a second ruck going into next season. That has to be very very high on our list of priorities given Max is going to be 33 next year!

He almost certainly will have to do some ruck duties this year.

What's this got to do with Tmac? they play at different ends of the field. Good luck to Petty but at this stage I wish we had taken the Adelaide pick/s they were offering

IF TMc stays,  then Harrison may remain a swing man.  So much depends on how Turner and Jefferson develop as tall forwards as well.  But medium to long term he is likely to become our key defender.

Securing Petty to 2027 is huge for our list management, I am pleasantly shocked at this news. He hasn't been great this year but I have full confidence he will bounce back with a full preseason under his belt next year.

Brilliant news! I think he moves to the backline next season in preparation for May handing over the baton.

Hopefully Tmac stays on, but if Tmac were to retire Petty becomes lock down back round 1.

Tomlinson may also look elsewhere which thins our backline stocks.

Honestly this softened the loss knowing Harrison is going to be here until the end of 2027.

Suns have Lombard, Brisbane have Ashcroft and Marshall. All in the mix for the first round, Ashcroft potentially top 5.

Don't think Sydney or GWS have anyone significant coming through.

With the new potentially NGA rules essendon will have rights to Kako who some say is top 15.

Cal Twomey has Sam Marshall going at 21. He's usually a very good judge. We could land around pick 10 which would be very handy indeed.

Has Kalani committed to us above GCS?

Source?

Hopefully the rumours of interest in Waterman are true. Petty goes back, JVR, Disco, Jeffo and Waterman as KPFs

He's not near physically ready for drafting 😉

PREMIERSHIP DEFENDER 👏👏👏👏🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

Play him as a key defender

Not a key forward

He’s a good contested mark.

Correct.  And bring Jeffo in for at least three games (or more if he holds his own).

Brown dog for Sparrow also.

Need to see where both of their games are at and give them a good look at the next level up and what's required to stay there.  Work on things over the off and give them hope & incentive to push harder.

Get a quality mid or two and a back up ruck for Big M

JVR might have a case, but I thought Petty constantly competed against the likes of Pearce and co, and Turner in particular struggled up the ground. JVR was great inside 50.

He looks huge for a bottom ager. AFL body like JVR on drafting for sure. Lets hope his footy matches JVR.

His marking today was excellent.  But he can't ruck and he's a pinch hit forward at best.  Back to defence and it'll be a very worthwhile investment.

He's very good at marking at an angle....I mean he seems better when he comes from the side to mark.

He isn't really a great pack mark in that he doesn't seem to have the weight to stand put in the middle of others and hold the ball. He is moved out of the way quite often.

But the upside to his " lightness" is he has good agility and athleticism.

I somewhat ambivalent about resigning him as he is not the forward I hoped he would be despite some occasional brilliance in the position.

He is a natural defender and a good one. He just needs his confidence back . I guess with our aging backline we will see him play in his better position in the future.

I guess he's been given a tough run this year. He didn't have a solid pre season. Due to the club's poor drafting he's been forced to play as fwd and now as a ruckman.

Generally speaking, I personally doubt whether someone's child romanticism and support for a club lends itself to making a professional decision about their employment, at least to the degree that supporters sometimes expect (or hope).

Naturally you have the added impetus of Jeff's career and legacy at the Dees, but from the outside looking in I think there's also a strong pull to him staying on the GC.

Time will tell, but FWIW I will be shattered if he's not playing in a Dees jumper.

Crows fans feel like they dodged a bullet as they need midfielders more than defenders. Glad he is staying with us.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50.
