We should throw the house at TDK

Wouldn't that be likely to injure him?

We should get the bloke that can throw the house!

TDK is a nice player, but I reckon they're going to shed a highly paid player soon. He's a difficult one, because they've already got two star forwards and a good ruckman, if I were them I'd be trying to turn TDK into another mid or even a Houston.

All reasons why we should throw the house at him

Meh.

We have way more pressing needs.

Like elite mids to support Viney, Clarry and Trac.

And half backs to help our transition game.

Houston and Cumming are still good ideas, Cumming is preferable given he only costs TPP.

Some on ground support for Max who can play forward……I’d be taking mids at the draft.

Isnt it just funny how, when it was Melbourne FC - a sure thing - it was 2 first round picks. Now its supposedly possible with Carltons Pick 11. Heck Doggies and Pies want him and they dont even have a first round pick.

With Trac and Kozzy re-committing.

Doesn't surprise me that Houston may still pull the trigger for the deal.

Just the media doing their work to get all the good players to Cats, Blues or Pies.

According to an AFL and Gettable (paid partnership) Instagram post made 4 hours ago, he’s talking to four clubs… Pies, Dogs, Blues and Saints.

Perhaps we're looking elsewhere and moved on from someone who like him who would cost and arm and a leg and way too much for someone closing in on 30 years of age?

Hopefully it’s a sign that we intend to go to the draft with pick 5.

If trac is serious about his commitment to us then he should be organising a catch up with Dan and (re)sell us as a destination.

Hard to fathom that Houston basically nominated us as his preferred club until we imploded and went all MFC on everyone. We could had a 2 time reigning All Australian, a top 5 user of the football and arguably our best recruit in the Goodwin era.

Another reference below in relation to Houston's initial intentions - being the MFC as his club of choice before we stuffed everything up.

How do you know this is not just Port and Houston's management having a sook because we pulled our initial first round pick offer?

Carlton don't want to take pick 11 for him, but we are expected to trade pick 5?

He may well still want to come to us, but Port may have cracked it and said its pick 5 or we won't trade.

Where have you got this ‘we pulled our first pick’ narrative from ?

You do realise that Houston has a say in the matter? We are out of the race. End of story.

I'm only going by separate reports from Jay Clark and Cal Twomey that the player himself has essentially changed his mind. When you get the same information from multiple media sources that are independent of each other you'd probably think there's validity in the claim.

In any respect, Houston is worth a top 5-10 pick given his recent achievements, and if he did nominate us (which he won't at this stage), then I'd be willing to trade pick 5 with a bit of change coming back our way due to his age.

Carlton should stump up pick 11 outright for Houston if they desperately want him.

It’s definitely Houston that doesn’t want to come to us anymore, all picks are on the table this year, including our future first

We want to take pick 5 to the draft. When we started the conversation with Houston our first pick was somewhere in the high teens. Connect the dots.

All picks being on the table,  and all picks being traded for all players is not the same thing.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
