The future looks good with the talent the recruiting team have recruit and the coaches are developing.

JVR (Future dominant KPF)

McVee (I think he will become a weapon in the midfield in a year or two)

Leb Windsor. (Star quality)

Bowser (will get back to his best)

Jeffo (Liking his development at VFL level)

Riv (loved his midfield minutes the last couple of weeks)

Howes (Will gain more consistency)

Jed Adam’s (has been better since Tomo has not been playing VFL level. Jury is still out)

Verrall (I like his game and will continue his development. Max replacement)

Kozzie (he is 23 and already a star)

Kolt (has shown his value in patches. Has natural  improvements to come)

Disco (he will become more consistent and has been good in patches)

AMW (loved what I saw last night)

Woe jnr (he will be a solid performer in time)

Sestan (the kid has skill oozing out of him, just needs consistency at VFL. Time will tell but has a high ceiling)

All up that is 15 kids named and most have had a taste of playing at senior level. Only one top 10 draft pick on this list too…….

I propose a fun excercise on this fine winter morning 🥶🥶

Of those players listed here, use a current player in the competition (or someone that played in this millenia) to describe their ceilings....

JVR - Jack Riewoldt

And so on

The KOLT is going to be a star ️

Loved how he went about it last night.

Absolutely! Great player: love his attitude - not fazed at all, just gets in there, with a grin. We’re crying out for these types, especially with Gus and Hibbo out of the picture now.

As soon as he gets the confidence and knowledge to give himself that extra yard to get a shot away, he’s going to be elite.

Just needs to get used to the pace of AFL and get games experience and he will be handy.

And I like his out going attitude.  Not afraid to have a go. Extrovert.

In comparison much of our team seems to have the personaility of the IT department.

Ooh, I'll play. I'll try to be realistic but positive and also controversial so I can be in the AFL media.

Judd McVee - Michael Hibberd

Kynan Brown - Nathan Brown

Trent Rivers - Marc Murphy (lol I know much that'll irritate some people but I suspect like Murphy, Rivers will spend most of his career being either underrated or overrated.)

Jake Bowey - Leigh Montagna

I am most interested in those who can make an impact in 2025. I want another premiership now while our generational talent is still playing and in their prime.

First 22 in 2025.

  • Rivers - A full preseason training as a midfielder and we could have something special. It might be the key to Petracca spending permanent time up forward.
  • McVee - When (if) does the midfield move happen? It's either him or Rivers.
  • JVR - So much of our hope for another flag depends on if, or when, it finally clicks for Roo.
  • Windsor - Already AFL standard and should be fitter and stronger next year.

Fringe 22:

  • Turner - His position is a huge question mark. He's shown enough to suggest he would be a great third tall forward line. However, what if Tomlinson and Petty leave and McDonald retires? We then have almost zero depth with an aging May and injury-prone Lever.
  • Jefferson - Based on talent and his improvement in 2024 you would hope he can meaningfully contribute at AFL level next year. Hugely important to our chances.
  • Bowey - Not sure I see where huge improvement comes from, but his best is a lock for our first 22. Needs to regain his form.
  • Tholstrup - Can he take a massive step next year? Or will he take a while? Seems the latter to me, will be the next generation.

Depth for injuries: Howes, Woewodin, AMW, Brown

Unlikely to play: Adams, Verrall, Sestan

Not sure why people are talking about our youth in 2025 when we’re still in 2024.

our young brigade went toe to toe with a very experienced And in form Briscoe outfit and showed they are very capable.

I loved the Kolt taking it up to and backchatting Zorko, loved McVee’s chip at speed to Kozzie, and Rivers is a revelation in the middle. They are growing week to week.

If they continue to build cohesion, belief and form our young brigade may be blossoming here and now.

It was probably always the plan this year though, given we went into the season with question marks over Gus and Clarry.

Does the MFC follow Demonland?

Anyway, they’re putting this out publicly for a reason.

Unfortunately Paul, I’m of the opinion that a premiership is beyond us this year. That why I’m looking at our younger brigade.

I like what I see and hope with development will can content again in 2025

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
