Thoughts post match:

why did the AFL change the ruck dual rules? They have gone full circle in 35 years. They brought in the dividing line to stop ruckman wrestling each other. Then the limiting circle to limit the run up ( which curtailed Jeff White’s dominance) and now we have reverted to wrestling again that allows big muscle bound brutes negate probably the best tap ruckman the game has seen. Please explain AFL!

I thought the free kick for a faked handball to get the player on the mark to move was removed last year, but it’s back it seems.

Regarding Oliver time for a spell at Casey. He is a liability. Let’s run the kids through there for the rest of the season.

Let’s play  Fritta up the ground for a few games. He has mobility and skills and needs to get involved in the play.

continue playing the kids, the season is shot I think. Let’s work out who is part of future, now.

Fitness - I have serious doubts about our stamina, ability to run out games.

Names please?

I couldn't pay a membership this year, will do the next and the next after.

Even if we are bottom of the ladder.

Look at @Bombay Airconditioning’s post above yours, saying the low crowd was because people are “sending a message”.

That’s precisely what I’m talking about.

How would you feel?

Oh - that's right Kojack. You don't have those problems.

Post of the year. Thinks Biff I needed a laugh after that performance

28,000 people. Outnumbered by the 18th team and a minnow of the competition.

Our supporters drop their bundle very, very quickly.

And yes, we played some very ordinary football, but are you a supporter or not?

When they stop trying I stop going. It is that simple. As bad as the plan is, our effort and will is just not there. Half of that team are being found out this year for their selfish attitude and arrogance - it’s pathetic. Only a handful deserve our plaudits.

Gee, I wonder.

There’s no good explanation for it.

If our fitness program has us unable to run out a game in Round 15 off the bye against a side on a six day break, then it’s not a good program.

Have to work out what the hell to do with Oliver.. no idea personally. Seems way underdone

Play him and give him a base to start his pre season from. Can’t beat match fitness. We are a team in development at this point.

Hi all, not sure if this has been commented on however we did get a win coming off a bye. I haven’t seen us do that for a while.

I thought it was years since we’ve won off the bye, but in 2021 we beat the Dons at the G (25% Covid capacity) and then flogged Brisbane in 2022 by 10 goals at the same venue.

Having said that, tonight wasn’t exactly conquering Mt Everest.

A big f you to all the reserved seat members who didn’t show up, absolutely pathetic turnout from us tonight.

As for the team, we are broken, people need to stop blaming the umpires.

Fritsch and Oliver should be made to walk to Brisbane because neither are getting dropped.

Petty can start walking to Adelaide, they can have him free of charge.

Petty is a premiership defender, Goodwin is destroying his career

Don't blame the umpires, we were garbage in that last quarter. Look within

I looked within and I found a problem with the umpiring.

I used to really enjoy lurking on these pages but the negativity is a real drag. I know that it's frustrating watching your team lose or not play their best, but being a supporter is also about celebrating wins.

There were so many positives to take out of tonight. Yeah, we may not be playing our best footy, but we were so much better than previous week's. We led for the entire game for a start and barely kicked any behinds.

The youth at our club stood up tonight. Kolt was amazing. That Kynan Brown tackle 🔥. Trent Rivers. Judd McVee.

Jack Viney, Max Gawn and Steven May played really well. Petty had some impact!

Our first and third quarters were really good. North Melbourne are not playing like a bottom side - they were really lifted in the last quarter and were hard to stop.

We may not win the premiership this year, but there is a lot to hope for in the future. Every top 8 side has had a [censored] time recently - Sydney nearly didn't make the finals last year, Geelong missed them entirely. Collingwood were woeful in 2021.

A win is a win, is a win, is a win.

Hard to disagree.

Bizarrely, whilst we finally kicked straighter than our opponent, we lost nearly every other key stat against the worst team in the comp. Maybe they're not the worst anymore.

We are making up the numbers this year and that's Ok. Anyone holding onto us challenging this year really needs to be commended for their faith.....but they are delusional.

There’s no place on Demonland for that sort of positivity.

Bank the four points and get set for the lions.

Maybe they’re sending a message.

I hate gatekeeping supporters. As a remote supporter, nothing annoys me more than supporters who claim superiority because they’re in the privileged position to go games when others can’t. But if the only reason for a supporter’s non-attendance is “to send a message”, that support sucks. A lot.

Wish I knew what was wrong with Clarry, I think this is the crux of lot of our problems .

I know he had a limited pre season , but I really thought he might have stepped up in Tracs absence.

He seems to have no go in him anymore.

3rd week in a row Fritter has been a whitches hat

I actually take this as a positive. Means he’s going to go off like a rocket in the coming weeks and kick some bags, if you believe in law of averages.

Although Petty’s doing his best to defy that law.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
