I'm sick of this crap

l'm sick of this crap what do you get if you are loyal and paid up early for the club?

NOTHING

Last year they gave away free resevered seats after round seven.

Because l paid up befor Xmas l got nothing .

Now they say if you join up a new member you can get the Age free.

This year l have signed up seven new members that have never been members.

Why should l get anyone to join or renew my membership early next year.

Ok l buy five member ships each year and will do so next year no matter what happens this year with the team.

All lm asking is for some reward for being a long time member.

l get a bit of a discount at the melbourne shop big deal.

So can any one at the end of the year.

l have paid for the member ships won and paid for simone Bucklys pink jumper as well as picketts pink jumper.

Lets also include the Neitz and Robbo and Jamars , Greens , and Millers jumpers.

As a family member plays for the dees l could just as easy get the jumpers off him.

NO l make sure that l give to the club money that they need.

Come on Melbourne why not look after the ones that ARE looking after you.

l'm sure l'm not the only one who is having this crap slaped in our face for doing the right thing.

Now they say they will give away money if you come to the games.

How about rewarding the people that have gone all year to watch this losses before they try to bring new people look after the ones that are their.

l just hope who ever gets the money one is a melbourne supporter and is one that has sat throw all their games this year.

And if you can get a new member to sign now you should begiven more then a paper.

For you have done a great job to get them to sign and lied to them about the afl becouse who would sign now really.

It's just marketing to get more people to go to games and sign up, not sure why you're so upset. Also people buying memberships now obiovuly aren't going to get the same benefit because the season is almost halfway through. It's like going to the supermarket and buying something on special because it's close to its useby date. (Just realised after I finished that analogy that it fitted on more than one level :( )

al l,m saying is they should to the marking early to get the people on board.

not after 8 losses they would have more chance really would you buy a member ship for a club that you have never been a memeber to after 8 stright losses.

i pay for not what the club can give me but so the lub i love will survive, and if after round 7 they give away some crap i dont care cos i have had free entry to those home games that those who sign late wont have

Correct. Its like not buying a shirt until it goes on sale when the season is nearly over. The difference here is the money goes to keep your club around. Also I think there were some freebies like scarves that may not still be on offer now anyway.

The club does market their product all the time, it's just more important now because of our poor performances on the ground. I know it's frustrating but remember it's also a business and the club needs to be proactive to get their revenue coming in.

Congratulations for also picking up that The Age only came on board just before or just after round 1, so the offer could not have been made to anyone who purchased before Christmas or before the season.

Don't make a fool out yourself by not checking out the facts first.

with regards to the age im surprised that a deal wasnt struck whereby all melbourne members could get a good deal on the age being home delivered, and if one was struck i never heard about it...

We may miss out on a few freebies signing up early, but big deal!

The club can't afford to give stuff away to every member, but if they offer it into the season as an enticement to re-sign a few lapsed members, or picks up a few new ones, well they have to try it.

I have to say, apart from the team losing a few games, I'm pretty happy with the value for money I get as an MFC member.

One thing that I do think is a good idea, and a mate who is a Richmond member experienced it, is having an exclusive function for members who had been signed up for 10+ years. It is a great reward for loyalty.

I lifted the following details off the Richmond FC brochure.....

CATEGORY MEMBER YEARS ADDITIONAL FULFILMENT

1st Year Member 1 year Invite to an Introductory function

& 2007 lanyard

2nd Year Member 2 year 2007 lanyard & Hoyts movie voucher

Bronze Member 3–4 years 2007 lanyard & Hoyts movie voucher

Silver Member 5–9 years Invite to a Free Formal Cocktail Party*,

2007 lanyard & a Silver member cap

Gold Member 10–24 years Invite to a Free Formal Cocktail Party*,

2007 lanyard & a Gold member cap

Platinum Member 25–49 years Invite to a Free Formal Cocktail Party*,

2007 lanyard & a Platinum member cap

Yellow & Black Member 50+ years Invite to a Free Formal Cocktail Party*,

2007 lanyard, Yellow and Black member cap

& Richmond finals ticket guarantee

The function my mate went to was at Crown, and had nearly all of the players attend.

I haven't checked the price difference between our club and others, and to be honest I don't really care......and RFC members may well pay a little more for this privilege, but I just thought the concept was a good one.

Member's who had already signed up could have got a reserved seat for free as well. It could have been added on. Plenty of members did this. Check your facts before going on a rant buddy.

I think you'll find that the membership department is very approachable and appreciate members dropping them a line.

If you feel that you haven't benefited from personally referring 7 new members to the club, see what can be offered to you now or for next year.

Drop the membership department and email and see.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
