Any chance we could turn up to a game with the mindset of putting immense pressure on the opponent?

Have you ever played footy at an elite lvl and had an opponent steamroll you? It’s no fun & putting pressure on isn’t the issue that got us to this point, least of our worries in this game!

the fact our second best defender is probably also our best forward genuinely makes me laugh.

Who is one year away max from retirement

A top 3, possibly top 2, spot in the offing. With the race for the Top 8 being so tight this year, I am worried our performances against the 2 WA clubs in the last 3 weeks are a portent to a dreaded 9th place finish - maybe even at best? C’mon Dees … prove we are better than this! ❤️💙❤️💙

Why are we loading so heavily at this time in the season?

The funny thing is, it’s change we’re trying — we could go back to 22-23 Brand in no time but WHY? Do what you’ve always done and you’ll get same result..

how can no one else see this IS trying to change????? Goodness me.. I’d rather we don’t change and just kicked straighter (ly) but I also see we can’t keep getting to finals, dominating i50 and LOSING!!! We lost 4/4 finals — We have to try and transition our game and we will, it’s a bump in the road, just hope for no injuries & put it behind us!

How many bumps you need? Honestly...

It's pretty bad but there is a part of me that wants us to be smashed so we do something.  I guess we are being smashed

But then I  think there isnt anything we can do.

Our list is in disarray.

We have McAdam, Bbb and Schache on our list.

… and the apparently unwanted Fullarton and AMW

To each his own. I enjoy the banter.

New ideas are needed to keep pushing the side forward.  Yze bought in new ideas that had impact and success.  His replacement doesn't seem to had the same impact.  We need to go and find a high quality senior assistant to challenge Goodwin and push the team.

…. and (sounding like a broken record) a forward forward coach.

Down 26 in contested possessions means our pressure is non existent.
Plus down 16 in clearances and 9 in tackles.
That is non competitive football. I didn’t think I would ever have to be embarrassed watching us play with this team. This is embarrassing.

Every team will be doing this to us every week now, we are going to have to reinvent ourselves to remain competitive

This isn’t trying at all

The Squad is not mentally prepared

Losing to WC & lions in the way we did was the tip of the iceberg, Viney hadn’t played well since the Port game, our mids look shot, no fwd line, will only get worse, some how Goodwin has found a way to demolish this team who should have won another flag… thickhead never makes changes at 1/2 time the same old & same old bs presser coming up

Jackson marks 20 metres in the clear, top of the square.

ZONE Defence working well today , /s

Any chance of Man on Man ?

Surely pride kicks in at some point?

2mins to gi in Q3 and it's another goal for Freo because of our poor foot skills. Cheney short pass misses target Freoo gets a goal. It was Chandler and others in Q1.

I think some peeps have been a bit spoiled.. I wish I could make it so that when you jump-off this quickly you can’t enjoy the high-rides but I know where you’re coming from and would’ve once felt similar but this is a perfect day for a team that’s choc-full of confidence and we’re barely there! Maybe this is a butt-smashing we need?

No reason it can’t be.. I choose to keep faith, everything’s going right for them and it’s evident they’re chasing in. I can’t smash a team that’s given me so much resounding reasons to trust them.. I mean look at that Serong Goal for goodness sake off back if DARCY lucky goal and Frederick boundary goal, that’s just bananas & good on em!

We’ll bounce back next week.. you don’t lose ability overnight for goodness sake!

Harden up ppl, it’s a crappy day — move fwd.

So you are OK with a premiership type list being smashed week in and week out by mediocre opposition?

It's clear this team is not good enough this year, let's stop pretending otherwise.

Any danger of this game breaking wide open ?...

I mean WIDE :(

Damn, that last goal may make it hard to get the win now, time is running out to come back.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
