Good win on the road for the Blues ... a very good win ... powerful 4th quarter. First time beating an Adelaide Club at Adelaide Oval actually.

Not peaking yet. Still more injured players to come back.

Nah, peaking now and you don't win flags in May as they always say.

Also apart from Cerra, Cottrell and Martin they are close to full strength.

Port are perennial pretenders though, we'll see...

The original team has been on a training camp miles away and were on their way to the oppo home ground on GameDay. Their bus broke down and because their own town is at about the halfway mark between where they broke down and the oppo home ground but in the opposite direction, it was quicker to round up the misfits and take them to the game in the backup bus.

Did you write the script for the ad? 😄

Agreed. But they are a tough opponent at home in Adelaide.

I think they’re a team that had a patchy April and May but are now working into the season really nicely as evidenced by their last 2 games.

I don’t want to play them in a final, if we’re good enough to make it.

And it doesn’t help that their (Port’s) fans are so loud and there’s so many of them.

Real talk: I can see them in the GF this year. The side is more balanced then ever and they aren't just scoring from stoppage now (apart from tonight). They've even found a use for Zac Willams now forward. It wasn't long ago when nothing seemed to work out for them, now it seems like its all falling their way. Very good side

Sounded like almost equal numbers tonight. Hell of a lot of baggers there

Carlton has a big following in both South Australia and Western Australia, so many club legends over the years hailed from these two states. The Blues will likely be aiming to draft the two Camporeale boys in the next draft (twin sons of Scott Camporeale who was in the 1995 Premiership team).

Agree. They're quite far from peaking tbh, their last month has been up and down. Sydney are genuinely peaking and couldn't play any better - too early.

Blues were my flag tip before it all began and remain so - have all key items covered and their 2nd/3rd string layer are all contributing solidly and knowing their role. They've as a group also discovered the knack of winning - you can see it.

They give me huge '21 Dees vibes and have done for about 18 months

Carlton are a tough team to beat any given week, but still not sure on them defensively. Up to now they have conceded the 4th highest against. Wait and see if they fix that in the back half.

What do you do next Sunday night??? Blues v Bombers...

Yeah the balance of the list really reminds me of ours in 21, as well as the number of guys in career best form.

unbelievable that they get a 10 day break after a game in adelaide whereas the peptides will be coming off a standard 7 day week after the humidity of playing gc17 up there

they're trying to turn 'king's birthday eve' into a thing the way we and the tigs have turned 'anzac day eve' into a thing

Am I imagining things or have teams been winning a lot on the road this year?

For what it's worth, 29 of 64, I think.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
