That’s the worst training thread I’ve ever read but I found it rather enjoyable all the same.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

I made it very clear sometime ago that I and many others require solid training reports by early afternoon. So please stop complaining about us complaining.

WOW Like WOW

If you don't like the reports how about you attend training or open your wallet and PAY for someone to report as per your demands.

Me I am happy with what ever is reported by the track watchers

Pull your head in.

Don't worry about Picket, be very worried about Uncle Bitters getting anywhere near you.

What do they do at these Captain's runs, are they just a light kick, handball and a few shots for goal, more of a stretch?

Do the rest train just after?

I call the Captain’s Run the S&Gs Run. It’s not a serious session. Today’s was particularly relaxed and short (barely half an hour). They pretty much played kick-to-kick for a while, practiced goal kicking for all of five minutes, and did loosely-structured handball drills. To illustrate exactly how nothing it was, one of the trainers asked Caleb why he wasn’t wearing his new boots and he said, “it’s not worth getting them dirty.”

First training report without @kev martin and look at the angst.

Thats the problem I see here, we have lost many track watchers and there reports because people here didn't like there reports.

Sartay ??? used to love his reports, Kev in the same boat. If the reports are canned why would they continue.

That’s not why Kev isn’t submitting reports. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single occurrence of someone canning his training reports, anyways.

Yes she absolutely does, and all the time she gives back to the club and Demonland is done free of charge and in her spare time.

This is up there with the complaint we had about the podcast. Just get on with your life if you don't like the FREE content you are being provided.

Also @WalkingCivilWar has said many many times before that reporting on the ins and outs of training and specifics is not her forte, and that she is there to provide some light hearted commentary and any inside intel she may get from the players. Last week she told us Bowser will play against Carlton, which was a scoop, and turned out to be spot on. Why people are now complaining about the content of her training reports, is beyond me.
I love a detailed training report as much as the next person, but equally I love the insights and funny anecdotes that we get as well. There is room for both.

Sorry I was not having a go at @WalkingCivilWar in any respect at all. I was legitimately asking because she spends so much time doing stuff for the football club and posting on training it’s incredible and I love her training reports there very funny.

You are amazingly committed to the football team and it’s bloody awesome. And I love your training reports, keep up the great work.

I think this is the training report when you aren't having a training report, hence a Clayton's training report.

I liked Claytons.  Thanks WCW!

*might be a bit obscure for the younger members of DS*

Which is fair enough given that Captains Runs are Clayton's training sessions.

Not sure what some people are expecting. There's SFA training done in 5 day break weeks.  It's all about recovery.

I know why Kev is no longer submitting reports, but we have also lost Sartay ??? sorry don't remember his user name,

he was canned becaused he was a positive Deemonds supporter. Now Lost

I forgot to tell you what he said when I told him his goal was meh. He very eloquently told me to “Get [censored].” 😂

Hmmm, after all that, can I say, I love bringing the Demonland faithful, my training reports from Casey, and I admire ANYONE who posts similarly, no disrespect to WCW who I regard as a really passionate and invested Lander, I spose I just wanted some further insights! I also am back working part time after retiring last year( got an offer to good to refuse), and I acknowledge the efforts of any to provide training reports no matter in what context. Thanks .P.F

All good, Ang. I didn’t think for a second you were having a go, that’s simply not you. And I do appreciate your kind sentiments. For many years I barracked for the mighty Dees alone, including attending matches on my own since I didn’t know any other Melbourne supporters. Now I’m just making up for lost time ❤️💙

...and I trust tomorrow evening will be another nice validation of those 'many years'!

[censored] there's some easily triggered, thin-skinned people on this thread. Four pages of outraged posts!

Can't imagine it ever being like this on a Collingwood or Geelong site.

I believe you've dot-point-reported on training at Olympic and Kardinia parks, too, @Roger Mellie😉

Re-posts here would be appreciated 😄

Helps if you @ the right poster. Also, I was referring to their fan forum sites, not attendance at their training.

But I guess the outraged defence fogged your reply

Let me preempt your response and answer that yes, I have attended MFC training numerous times (but not this season) and reported on here

Over and out

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
