Unlike their AFL counterparts, the Casey Demons and Carlton VFL sides are languishing near the bottom of the VFL table with one win apiece. They meet on Friday evening at Ikon Park at the ungodly time of 5.10pm. IMG_3022.jpeg.0f5aae54b58f08aefd72dadb42a1487c.jpegIMG_3023.jpeg.91414bc99c174ec1223e3f01789252ea.jpeg

I'm thinking this could see around 14 plus AFL listed players in the team. If Woewodin only plays a quarter at AFL level he may even join in.

11 from the VFL match last week plus Hore, BBB, Laurie.

PS Forgot Schache.. so one more

Neocleous, Windsor, LaPlanche* & Moodie named yet no Roy in sight!??

*emerg

I realise some of those are not vying with Roy and visa versa for his spot/role but crikey.

The guy kicked three goals in a losing team, was involved in a few other scoring chains (instigating at least one of those with a superb bit of play / handball on the wing at one point) and showed more talent on his right toe than all four of them.

Perplexing decision unless injured or he was a one-off ring in/top up?

Bell played last week then back to emerg this week.  Can only assume he came in for the Shack last week and has now been replaced with BBB.  Why is he even coming back unless we intended to continue on?

Why not persist with a mid / HF type (like Roy / other?) vs Bell, which is an area where we are severly depleted and getting smacked up in most weeks?

Surely you'd want to stengthen this area of our game as much as possible to attempt to win more often and improve the morale / development of the entire squad (inc. mfc players) in general?

Where the hec is BBB at?  Did he train (light duties?) during the week at any point?  Are we aiming to get him back to senior level or is he just a floater from here and possibly stiffling a potential fast tracking of Jeffo's development somewhat?  Or at least seeing where he's at trying to hold down a KP role for a few weeks before bringing a BBB or Shack back.

Personally if you're going to constantly shuffle the likes of BBB in and out i'd use that to have Jeffo on some sort of rotating roster where he's hitting the gym / track for heavy loading for two  weeks or so (when a BBB and / or.Shack comes back) then a game or two back in.  Rinse repeat.

The guy needs to seriously build up a VFL and then AFL worthy bod first in order to compete.  That's assuming we are looking to develop him into a KP player at some point?

And at this stage he's a fair way off the former and a lomg way off the latter.  Try and fast track him in this area and work on the positional role play and forward craft at Casey in between those physical blocks.

Have to say there's some head scratching stuff happening with selections and some players so far this season...

No Roy George !!!  Loved him last week.

Moodie has been average so not sure why he’s in ahead of Roy

Woey gets a run. 👏

Schache out is good for Jeffo. Otherwise forwards would look top heavy

Unavailable on the list are Schache Spargo Salem Milkshake (Jsmith29 ,Gus)

McAdam, step up to the plate.

Our forward line is desperate for someone experienced and dynamic. A good game, a full game, and you can come in for Billings.

Achilles  / heel issue.

Disappointing that Boy George hasn't got another run.

Maybe they are trying to hide him?

I notice Kolt is named in the middle - maybe this is for "learnings" as well as for desperate needs?  IF he does learn midfield skills it would add a very useful string to his HFF bow.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Roy George a LOT more after the mid season draft, presuming he's eligible.

I would but I recognise I'm on my own pretty much.  He's got some great attributes but IMO he's got some weaknesses that would make an AFL career problematic.  And we don't need another small forward.

You do realise he's had one VFL game and for the last two years he's been playing for Tyntyder in the Central League.

Being drafted by an AFL club would be a massive leap

If there’s someone who can help us short term then take them and get George for more VFL games and training at the end of the year.

But I’d be perfectly happy to take the gamble of all gambles on the mid season draft.

Of course. But we are talking about the last spot on our list that was not foreseen. It would only be as a rookie and certainly not long term, at this stage. The mid season draft and talent pool is a very different scenario to the pre season draft. Think of the circumstances under which we recruited Ollie Sestan. He was picked in a team to play draft hopefuls, he wasn't considered one himself, but showed something that caught the eye of Jason Taylor.

Like anyone that saw Roy in the Casey game,  I had moments when my eyes widened, and mouth opened. It is obvious he has special skills that will always be in demand, and you simply find a spot for those potential match winners. Now, he may have deficiencies in other areas and we would need to do our due diligence, as they say, but as a project rookie he simply has to be considered.

Just found this:

You have answered your own question re Roy George.

And wasted about 3 paras about BBB in total. BBB was named as an emergency last night so there is your answer I believe about his position.
You are correct that Jefferson will develop quicker and better without too many other talls competing with him at Casey. Last week was promising and hopefully he can again produce that form and goals.

Itsxa learning curve for some and very important for McAdams he played a full game this week to justify his performance for consideration for Seniors.

Shane McAdam post mystery injury of the week. One response was a concussion another 'fortunately' illness which appears much closer to the mark.

Will be watching with interest this afternoon. Forward posse needs a definite spark up its [censored] on a consistent basis. Not writing off Fullarton either can hold a mark.

Still not writing off Laurie.  Hope he plays well as he's a candidate to come in for either Billings or Chandler. Would obviously like McAdam to come in but he's played 2 quarters out of 8 and reckon he needs 2 full VFL games for match fitness.

perfect game this week to bring in McAdam and Fullerton and let them do what they were drafted for.

Fullarton has not been stellar at VFL level. Verral has perhaps outperformed him.

Who would you drop so as to include him?
