Blues are zoning well to prevent any Pies forward plays… be interesting if they can maintain it. Pies lack of tall forwards and punch in the middle mean Blues should beat them well…

please. 😊

@binman normally rate your tips but Pies. Two big outs De Goey and Mitchell. Plus Pies two named key defenders Markov and Noble. Extremely underwhelming against Harry Charlie and Tom. I think this will be hard for Pies to get back into game. Will severely dent Pies season which will make it a perfect night

Another nnon-universal rule of the AFL.

I am mystified by how far players can run when kicking-in after a behind.  I'd assume they can't run more than 15m from the end of the goal square. Yet they often run much much further than that and it would be easy for the umps to judge given they have a 9m ruler nearby.  Am I missing a rule?

No but the umps certainly are.... all four of them

Pies have given up 6.3, 6.1 and tonight 5.4 in the first quarter of their last 3 games.

Cox raises his mitt...

"Look guys i have a stylish glove here"

given we're playing them next week i'd would prefer if the pies gave Carlton a tougher physical test than this.

Ah, the beauty of having two power forwards a la Blues and Cats. One stays put (Curnow, Hawkins) the other drifts to the wing or further back (McKay, Cameron). If it’s TMac on Cameron tomorrow night probably McKay’s his man next week. Just don’t see May up to that much travelling.

Sad seeing Sidebottom go on a year too many. A Champion player but they can’t carry him for much longer

First kick a goal. Well done son.

Well done Sullivan. That’s awesome.

 Collingwood’s debutants look Collingwood-ish already.

Cox 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Carlton have gone to sleep

Pies not bad with the long bomb i50. They’ve stolen our game plan … previous game plan?

Blues defence is terrible

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
