Ah someone who takes notice welcome to the few gang who say it.

We just need to beat them at the contest. Deny them clearances and our backs will do the rest. Tonight they destroyed us in that area - as they have done before but not every game in recent times.

At least we've banked some wins.

In the end we only had 2 less scoring shots.

But they set it up in the 1st quarter with hipwood and daniher kicking multiple goals

Exactly. Brisbane just chipped it to players in space while we guarded grass. They made us look lazy and foolish.

They took a leaf out of Carltons book from last week set themselves up for the punch down the ground smart move.

They also tell me that we don’t just give up. Would you rather lose by 60?
I am not suggesting the final score was a reflection of the true result, because it wasn’t. But better to give something than give up. Those were the Neeld days. I don’t ever want to see that again.

Why can't they start say in the third quarter? Boggles the mind that the pride of this team only comes out once we are 7 goals down.

Much easier to dominate a quarter when the opposition know they’ve won the game. Just saying.

Noah Answerth = [censored].

Yeah the AFL craps on about social issues but wont lay a glove on Answerth. To mock someone the way he did was pathetic. Petty was obviously in a distressed state at the Gabba so to bring it up again is a dog act.

EXACTLY! Max is an overated ruckman! At Centre bounces!!  Great Mark, great around the ground, but a dare I say it... poor centre bounce ruck! Thought this for a while, just check his stats, and not just today!

Haha. We haven't had an old-fashioned floggin' in yonks. I had a great morning so whatevs. No learnings. Look forward to the Kolt causing random chaos at the pointy end of the season. Go Dees!

Felt like a 122 point loss. Was only 22 in the end. Rest up boys and put in a better showing on Anzac eve

Crack and beer? Or crack a beer?

Hopefully I walk into the yarra after that performance. At least stress free weekend

That's right, but a champion team can't/shouldn't dish out these soulless performances.

Of course I'd rather go down fighting. I was cheering every 4th quarter goal like a pathetic lunatic and telling my mate that I'd take a winning quarter.

But for anyone to look at that and actually suggest our performance as a whole was not that bad is seriously deluded. There were moments in that game that were literally 2014 Melbourne. Let's not pat ourselves on the back too much about getting towelled up by a team that everyone thought was our bunny's not long ago on our home deck.

No smart move don't think we don't do that..

Easily the worst Melbourne has played since 2019, pathetic, woeful, weak, gutless tripe, about 3 half decent players

Max is a 6 time AA premiership captain. He is not overrated, he’s one of the greatest ruckman of all time.

Give it a rest, this is never an argument that you’ll win.

What’s overreaction ans what’s real?

Backline:

Honestly did ok all things considered, but they still aren’t linking run and handballs. And the switching game comes and goes. Kickout plan now requires Juddy to lace the ball rather than any movement to create kicks.

Midfield;

They got smacked. Tracc had no juice. Oliver upped last weeks fumbly disaster. Sparrow, I love him, he does his role, he’s not a primary on baller.

Forwards

[censored] plan, worse execution. Had very little help but we can’t keep playing the 3 talls and Fritsch if they can’t catch it and can’t work functional leads. No help bodying Harris. No leading up to create space.

His fan club will come out to defend him as usual but we are playing 17 on 18 with Bayley out the Back Fritsch in his current role. He’s nearly impossible to stick with on a well timed lead, so can he just once lead up at the ball? Give his mids a simple target and let the other forwards cruise in behind. Spread the backline.

He’s a player capable of so much more but his entire game is attempting to get goal side and have it laced out. He has to be challenged to grow as a footballer.

I’d like to think they got to our level of fatigue aha. Junk time goals helping the % at least

I honestly don't even think we were that bad. We were slow and battered and Brisbane absolutely came out firing. If our worst equates to a 22 point loss against a full strength Brisbane then I'll take that. Richmond and Collingwood both had far worse outings in their Premiership winning years.

Can you point me to those outings please. Might help us all feel better

Doubt anyone who actually watched the game is thinking that margin reflects the results. We were comprehensively beaten by a side that played much better football.
Last week Norf went down by 70. I rather not see that from my team.

Also I go to have an eye-test now and buy reading glasses while early afternoon tipsy. Should be interesting.

The 22-point margin was the most misleading statistic of the night. For most of the game it looked like men against boys.

For three quarters our handling and kicking were sloppy, defensive pressure in midfield was non-existent, and delivery to the forward line was rare. Brisbane could hardly have believed the amount of time and space they were gifted to mount their attacks.

With Bowey still out and Salem facing a stint on the sidelines, there are now serious questions about our depth.

Sadly, Windsor found it hard to cope with the pressure tonight and Tholstrup is clearly far from AFL-ready.

Pickett's pace and guile were badly missed, and Woewoedin is certainly not an adequate replacement for Brayshaw.

Worst of all, Oliver is a country mile away from the player we know he can be. On his display tonight you would probably put him on the trade table.

Goodwin will have to do some serious thinking about the midfield mix.
