As I’ve tried to explain to CrankyPants (above) I couldn’t fully understand some of what the boys were saying. One can only say “Pardon, what was that?” so many times before it gets annoying.

I actually googled Herman’s Bay while with them and something about the NT popped up. I assumed I had the right name.

SO SHOOT ME FFS 🙄

fair enough, wcw

but i don't think there are many bays anywhere near the alice

Firstly, I couldn’t understand some of what the boys were saying and vice versa. I heard Herman’s Bay.

Secondly, I’ve not had the pleasure of going to Alice since I can’t afford to so should be forgiven for not knowing every single NT town, especially one with a population of only 500.

Thirdly, it has nothing to do with spelling. Also, don’t ever question my spelling. End of story.

And finally, you read about a group of young indigenous kids visiting from the NT, meeting our players, going to our match tomorrow night, and my misunderstanding of their town’s name is all you got from it???

You’re beyond cranky.

They are the Ntaria footy club

Hermannsburg may be the colonies name.

Difference between Narm and Melbourne.

I know what place I would call where the people are from. As is written on the uniforms they are wearing, Ntaria.

Hermannsburg is also renowned as being the birthplace of Albert Namatjira.

Prefer to call the place by it's indigenous name, Ntaria.

You are right, Namatjira clan area.

The Todd River in Alice Springs generally doesn't have water. The suburb in Melbourne called Bayswater is nowhere near the coast. The army has its base on the coastline in Darwin while the navy in the same city is situated inland. And red heads are called Bluey. That's what I like about Australia - all sorts of things can be the opposite of obvious.

The name Bayswater is a derivation of Bayards Watering Place, which was first recorded in 1380. The area was largely rural and isolated until the 1830s, when road development and residential building were initiated around Hyde Park. Areas farther to the north and west were developed soon afterward.

I'm just leaning on a lamp post, there's a kind of hush and something tells me I'm into something good.

Hope you like your coffee black because there's no milk today.

I think this is the height of naïveté and hubris this decision…

The Kolt should not be playing in his sunnies?! Especially not at night

Disappointed that you couldn’t find a way to mention Ben and Mrs Brown’s lovely daughter. 😀

No-one in rehab this morning, a Captain's run, 26 players.

Laurie, Tomlinson, Tholstrup, Chandler, Woey, and Kossie are out there.

Rehabbers are out now. Marty, McAdam, Melky, Bowey, Sestan.

As a guess for in and outs, I would say, out Laurie, Tomlinson, and Woey as they were mainly in the yellow vest in the structural sims.

Tholstrup was doing plenty off the half-forward.

Chandler was running hard, giving the knee a test, no problems.

There are group, maybe 20, from the area around Alice Springs (Ntaria). One of them will toss the coin at the game. The indigenous players all made some time for them. All in the MFC colours of their own club. The MFC also handed them some scarves.

Ollie Sestan was not named on the injury list.

Mystery injury of the week?

Yes a bit like Moniz prior to Choco's update info.

Wasn't exactly that mobile today so something's afoot it seems.

He was doing full work with the MFC Casey Squad (no tackling) after the run with the rehabbers, he had some strapping on his left shoulder.

Around the paddock today were signs indicating that the area had recently been sprayed with 'chemicals'. When, what, where and to what extent was not stated. Just, warning signs at various gates. There were no signs on it Sunday.

I hope the MFC was told it was OK to use the field.

Shooting is probably over the top.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
