McVee supurb, Windsor keeps on going...

Our mids get cooked two weeks straight is a concern

Define cooked?

We were +2 CPs and +4 clearances.

That was a very 'Melbourne Season 2023' type game.

Bit of an ugly mess, but effective D all over the ground.

I thought Billings played well. If he kicked straight he could have had 3 goals.

A hint of 21 about this season.

I thought 2022 in some ways.

We're still spluttering a bit but getting the job done.

Lots of players down a bit.

Billings, ANB, Clarry, Viney, Langdon. Salem

But, so many great efforts carrying us through.

Petracca, one of the best games I've seen him play. He just busted through so many packs.

TMac, May, Lever, McVee, Kozzie, Gawn all carried us through.

That tackling in the last quarter was inspirational. You could also see the skill difference at the end. We were just much cleaner gathering the ball in contests.

JVR, he's copped a lot of criticism but I reckon he's just competing around the ground so well. More marks and goals will follow. I think he's going to be am awesome KPF for us.

And Windsor, week by week, he's just looking more like Robbie Flower. Some rookies have a couple of good ones and then fade. Caleb seems to be just growing in confidence and stature.

I scoffed a bit at the Robbie comparisons at first but I'm really starting to see it.

We're getting the job done without being spectacular at the right end of the season.

One more big one next week and then we can take a well earned breath.

Go Dees

In 5 days they’ve done

549 km

638 disposals

122 tackles

49 scoring shots

… and 2/2 wins - so bloody good

Go Dees

There always seems to be someone to cover.

The core group is in good form and a few have really stepped up Last week ANB and this week McVee.

The young guys have really come on and are playing starring cameos

Windsor ….what a side step!

Absolutely rapt to get the 8pts from SA. I thought we were going to run away with it, but to Adelaide’s credit, they really cracked in for the last qtr. The only real downer is Pickett likely to miss 1 week. He’s probably our second best forward and gives us midfield creativity so it’s a massive loss against a Brisbane team who will be desperate.

That was a very professional win. Paced ourselves well considering the 5-day break. Two have played three interstate games against teams who finished 3rd, 8th, and 9th last year after 5 games and sitting 4-1 is fantastic. Another win against the Lions in 7 days and we reach our bye 6-1, with the chance to refresh and hit the middle of the season with momentum!

I'm loving what Clarry is doing at the moment, he's clearly nowhere near his best, getting a lot of attention but he's battling his [censored] off and playing a team role when it's needed! what i absolutely love is i think previously Clarry would have gotten frustrated and given away stupid free kicks when he's not flying, but now he just seems to want to help the team win.

he's had a very hard time clearly and not helped himself but geez it's good to see the redemption arc that's playing out in 2024

His busted hand is forcing him to kick more too, which isn't a bad thing.

How good is Windsor?
Blown away by his poise, footy IQ, and ability to win the contest. 10/10 drafting again.

Can't wait to see Tholstrup in the 1s as well. I have a feeling he'll be another JT special.

Mr Score Involvement Christian Petracca does it again with 10. Along with 29 touches, 15 contested, 8 clearances and a goal.

Give the guy a Brownlow

Can see why Adelaide want Petty. Solid best 22 either end of the ground and they have few like him.   He would help them immensely.  But now would he want to leave?

Sparrow played 98% Midfield and 2% forward tonight. Rounds 0-3 he was 46% midfield.

A very solid game by Tommy tonight.

That smother that led to Trac's goal 👌

The only real negative for tonight is  Kozzie’s likely suspension. We really need him next week. Not a lot in it, but enough in today’s game and completely avoidable and unnecessary.

All good. I think you'll find that the bio mechanics expert will show that the Adelaide player changed direction at the crucial moment. Precedence has been recently been set...

Massive 2nd half in those areas.

Oh yeah anyone got that guy's phone number?

Had a look at the odds for the Coleman pre game. Fritter was paying 34-1 and only a goal behind the lead. Should have snapped it up.

Play of the game for me. Absolute stunningness or some other superlative that BT would use.

Petty rethinking that potential crows trade. they look terrible

Twomey has suggested that, given their poor start, Adelaide wouldn’t want to have to deal such a high (top 5 atm) pick to us and will wait until his contract runs down in two years. This might actually strengthen our hand in any upcoming extension talks.

There was absolutely nothing in it at all. He will probably get a week but may get a fine with low impact considering Soligo got straight up and took his kick. I can't believe that is "suspendable" these days he basically brushed him after jumping up to deflect the ball. Didn't iron him out like Maynard on Brayshaw but the AFL will use that exact example to say, "see this year we've changed the rukes if you attempt to smother and bump someone high you will get suspended".
