Freo v Crows should be interesting. hard to pick

You’d imagine Freo get it done at home but these games are ones the Crows need to win if they make finals

Honestly, from what I can piece together without live coverage (ahhhh, Sydney life), it is a little embarrassing for Carlton to only be four/five goals up.

I stand by my theory that Carlton continue to be in weak form to start the season and that has been balanced by very, very good personal form from Harry McKay. 3 goals and 4 contested marks in each game, and already 3 goals and 3 contested marks to half time against North.

Voss and the Carlton planners would be absolutely thrilled to be clocking wins. That said... every Carlton opponent so far has remained winless this season. The Blues would want to get things working properly before they come up against opponents that aren't either in mental disarray, managing an awkward rebuild, or outright led by teenagers.

Well, precedent set, when we play the pies we’ll just dish out 22 fines. Ridiculous.

So in a critical period in an important match just put a couple of Ks on the table and belt an important star and double him up in pain. And don’t worry you won’t even give away a free downfield. Plenty of time to organise your defence. The AFL stinks

Curnow on Pink is just unfair. Charlie is built like a brick you-know-what, and Pink looks like any redhead you just pulled off the street. How's he going to compete?

The fix for a Carlton flag is so obviously on. The
AFL got their wish with the Pies last year. It’s Carlton’s turn this year

Can we start a gofundme to pay for all the open handed punch fines we’ll dish out on Kings Birthday?

I’d happily contribute.

I hope 21 of those fines is for gut punching Maynard, and the other one for gut punching Cox

What a joke the league has become

8 goals from frees and 50’s to Blues.

Sorry now 9 goals.

This is a world record.

The 5 year extension that Larkey signed last year must be feeling like a life sentence by now.

The lack of pressure on the Carlton mids from North's mids is just embarrassing. Very much like a Melbourne game from c.2013 - I feel so happy we're not subjected to that any more.

When is the heat going to come on Clarkson?

Seriously, Neeld had much worse cattle at his disposal and he didn’t last 2 years. How long will this sociopath’s grace period be?

You feel for North fans. Their team is hot garbage but the umps aren't helping one bit.

This is unwatchable. As @Jaded No More said (above) it’s clearly Carlton’s turn for a premiership. It makes me sick that we can’t enjoy neutral matches like this.

6 fifty-metre penalties now against North. At this point they should just go for the record.

I sure as hell dont

I definitely do. Hating on a club like North is one thing, but their fans, especially young fans, don’t deserve this.

It’s why the AFL for me has become unbearable to watch. If the Dees weren’t in it, I would’ve (and just about have) given it away years ago. It has become so business driven, and what is best for that business to succeed, that the football aspect has been neglected for some time now.

Grass roots local footy is so much purer and more enjoyable to witness. Go and get yourself a team to follow outside of the national/state leagues. It is way more fun to watch and be a part of. You feel like you’re part of a real community.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
