Congratulations WCW .... I became a grandparent just over a year ago. I can certainly recommend it.

My daughter is a Demon (of course). We watched the GF together. And one of my most treasured photos is of the 2 of us with the Premiership Cup. However her husband is Carlton, and he's more 'into' footy than my daughter, so my beautiful granddaughter will be a Bluebagger.

It could be worse ... filth, Essendon, Richmond, Jee-long ... (I'd forgotten how many teams I really hate.)

This is my granddaughter’s first AFL season!  My daughter first broke the “ I’m pregnant” news by showing me the demons onesie size 0.  She now also has the little the demons jumper my mum knitted for her (my daughter), which has been waiting patiently worn by a teddy for 28 years.

Here’s some positive news: this Sunday there’ll be a sea of these behind the goals…

We’ll put a splash of red on them and will wear them while banner-raising as well as for the entire match. (31 degrees on Sunday so we’ll likely need paint-scrapers to unstick our hair from our heads 😅)

Unlike the Carlton cheer squad, (who looked amazing in their Blues Brothers suits), we don’t have to fork out $165 per person to look great. 😁

Also unlike the Carlton cheer squad, in the event of a loss, we won’t look silly, which is how they would’ve looked had they lost. Because our accessory isn’t for S&Gs, it’s part of the celebration of the career of a much-loved champion, it could never look silly.

And in case anyone’s wondering… HELL YES we’ll be wearing them again on KB.

Absolutely brilliant WCW ❤️💙

I had to get over here, they’re being nasty about TMac and Brown over there!

I’ll allow you to park yourself here for now coz that’s a great reason to not be over there. Poor Tmac and BBB cop it so much… it does my [censored] head in. BUT…

You MUST behave yourself! One even slightly negative comment and you’re out! K? K.

So I think this is the sort of good news story this thread is about:

What champion bloke.

Said it in the other thread, that alot has been stated about our culture, but the media should have a good look at this bloke and see what character and culture is all about.

Watched him in our practice match against Richmond and thought he's clearly too good for VFL.

Best of luck to Marty on Sunday and hopefully there is a great second career in the making here at the Demons.

Worthy wearer of the No.27 too - love that he's got that number which has belonged to some great MFC defenders in my time as a supporter.

How good to see the club having players leave on terms where they are happy to be back again.

I don't know why he left or was not renewed but having a player return is a big tick in my book.

I'm getting plenty.

She's gotta six pack and isn't a mental .

Apparently reluctantly we made the call as part of the COVID playing list cut backs and Marty was overcoming an ACL.

Thanks WCW, I like this thread.

I'm absolutely positive of all of the following:

- that we win the flag this year

- that the DA will win the best cheer squad award this year

- that Maynard is a [censored]

- that Eddie is a [censored]

-that BT is a Richard , with a capital D.

- that Robbo needs to sign off

- that Gus Brayshaw earned and deserved a better way to end his career, and for that, once again, Maynard is an absolute [censored]

Having Gus on the bench as the conduit between coaches and players on match days will be a big boon for our playing group - Starting tomorrow.❤️💙💕

Blue sky outlook

Round one 2024

1. Petty back in Casey 👍🏻

2. Marty Hore back at MFC and his first game after 1667 days. Was very good.

3. Clarry.  What a star. ️. Burst through the centre and knew he was back. Looked strong.   We love ya Clarry 👏👏👏

4. Billings.  Jack was back.  Had a perfect game as the link into the forward 50.  He’s not a brute but he’s what we need. A connector.  👏👏👏

5. Max Gawn.  Bounced back. Best English to reclaim number 1 ruck mantle. 👏👏👏

6. May. Lost the first contest then bounced back to be captain in defence. Marked or defended everything. 👏👏👏

7. The voltaren worked for Tmcd and BBB. Both contributed today. Not great but not carried by any means. They can come back next week.

8. Winning at the G again. After the finals losses, we needed the win !!!

Go Dees. Let’s run the positive but make sure it’s not just corporate spin !!!

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
