PREGAME: Opening Round vs Sydney

I have no problem with the concept of Opening Round showcasing a couple of "blockbusters" in a non-footy state. They should have just called it Round 1 and just had 10 teams with a Bye and move on. It just makes it so confusing.

Or called it the Claytons round - the Season opener when you aren’t having a Season opener

Agree. He will come back in soon though (as he should).

Liked the midfield mix last night and felt like they hit targets in almost every spot inside the 50. Hope Clarry was watching…

I have a feeling that Clarry's absence is not just form or fitness related, and as such i think he will come back when Max and the team say he can return to the ones.

The only way The Media will write different stories is for the MFC to win games, they would have had a story ready to go last night, but it didn’t happen.
Now last night means bugger all, but it does show an attitude, which impressed me on a Hot night.
The new blood who came in all performed well.

I am sure Sir Max will get the side ready in the absence of Brayshaw,A.
the Swans won’t be easy but they are missing key players.
Missing Kozz will hurt us, so Billings and Tom Sparrow must kick goals.
The SCG being a Toy Ground doesn’t help, but going straight down the guts can score quick goals

We can win…   “Attitude”

US v The Rest of you Bastards

Bad news stories in the offseason are frustrating because there's really nothing that can be done to put them to bed until the matches start.
I just pay them as little attention as I can and try to move on with my life. If and when the season starts and we're losing games, then I'll panic. Until then it's Fugazi.

All we can control over Summer is “Attitude” within the group.
Now i hope the entire Football Department is Filthy on the AFL and it’s 17 other Clubs for Losing Brayshaw to a player who not only, was not Suspended, but collected a Premiership Medallion at the expense of our Player.
If the players can harness that aggression through the season, We are a Big Show

Big Max won’t forget his mate

That’s not so from all the press or even what Gawny has said.

Clarry is going to cop a lot of Banter on field from the opposing teams.
He has got to be ready for it and strong enough to overcome it

I would play Schache to provide some chop out for Max and allowing JVR to play perm forward.

Grundy will be keen to play big one.

We don't have any option

Verrall is still 3-4 years away

Fullerton is recovering

LVR should not be in the ruck

Just noticed we both reside south of the border equator. Welcome to the tropical stew.

Young Verrall could be anything. Any observations would have to be tempered by a very limited sample size. Did not play anywhere near a full season last year. Young bloke looks very willing and judging by today's photo on the AFL site, was not intimidated by the bigger bodied Harry McKay, plus he has a terrific leap. As Choco Williams says birth certificates don't necessarily count.

Correct, but it will be ongoing. He has got to be ready to deal with it and play well.
that may take time, i wouldn’t rush it

Whatever the Club decide I will be happy with. But I hope they give Clarry the go ahead for zero Round.

If Oliver is fit enough to play footy and is available for selection, he plays AFL. Simple as that.

I yend to agree... there will always be that "first game back"

It could be argued the longer you leave it, the more "whatever" festers.

Is it a case of getting back on the horse and going from there ?

Id like to see him suit up against the Bloods

Opinion on the timing of Clarry's return is obviously divided.

The TV cameras turned in his direction several times at Ikon Park and he seemed cheerful and relaxed as he watched his mates against Carlton.

If the coaching staff believe he is ready to go, mentally and physically, it would be ridiculous to leave him out.

He will face scrutiny whenever he returns, and the sooner he can get back to his best, the better it will be for him and the club.

A number of tickets from our allocation for Opening Round have become available. Whatever tickets we don’t use we have to give back to Sydney. Needless to say we’d rather OUR fans use them. If interested, please email:

for the Ticketek link to purchase.

These tickets are for seats in Bays 2 and 3 in the Bradman Stand.

Any problems/issues please PM me

I actually thought Schache showed more last night than Id seen before. His disposal is normally quite good and he buttered up for a few marks and ground balls. Tommo I also saw encouraging marks and disposals from.

Not saying they would be 1st 22 every week but I was quite relieved they held their ends up, in consideration of my expectations.

I would have thought he'd hit the weights a bit more to bulk up, might have helped his upper body strength in ruck contests.

The boy can kick for goal that's for sure, one of our biggest weaknesses.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
