four straight to the Blues  are they getting free kicks in the goal square or what other reason   thanks

This is day and night from last week. I was really worried frim what was on display there with no cohesion and accountability whatsoever.

Having Salo in the middle with Billing’s at HF and Bowey/Riv at HB has changed our dynamic somewhat.

Salo and Kozzie in the guts, Windsor on the wing has rejuvenated the place.

I always didn't think Salo was strong enough for the middle but his reaction speed and read make up for this. His disposal is as usual very good. I thought maybe Rivers in the middle instead of Kozzie . But Kozzie has been good too. It's a balance act with him though with his goal awareness and ability.

we look alright so far, aye?

I'm penning Sydney's obituary as we speak.

Not getting carried away just yet, but gee there are some good signs.

I remember we were good early last year too. Hopefully we can carry it further through the season this year

Great Kayo doing a filth spot during halftime.

Just rub it in all you scum

Gawn has turned 32 over summer but looks like maybe he's getting better if anything? Truly a freak of nature. Hope he can do a Tomahawk over the next few years.

WIndsor looks like a good draft pick and will play in Sydney. I'd expect Hunter to regain his place eventually but hopefully CW can make it hard for him because he offers a point of difference. Terrific goal!

The butchering of set shots is interesting. Fritsch, JVR and Kosi to a lesser extent are all pretty good kicks for goal so what's happening there? It's February so the pressure excuse can't be used. Maybe it's purely luck-driven. Scary thought for September.

Carlton in trouble without Weitering. Shows the importance of a key defender.

And Walsh in the guts

I've been critical of Laurie thought he was ok

I really like the ball movement, delivery to the forwards in 100 times better.

[censored] and giggles aside I liked the foot skill improvement.

Well quite a surprise - who would have thought we'd be well on top.

The Blues kicked with a slight breeze that term and made inroads early, but once Caleb Windsor burst forward and displayed his outside pace and kicked truly from 45m, we totally dominated.

Windsor will play rd 1, but there was plenty of other things to like.

Salem showed he can fill Gus's smarts role in the middle, Sparrow lockdown role on Cripps gives us the hard-edge we gave up when we stopped playing Harmes as a tagger, Kozzie mega dangerous in middle and up forward, JVR super up forward, spanking Kemp, although if Weitering was there it might be different, Fritter all class, except he's got the yips with his set shots, ANB lively cutting inboard, Viney diving on everything and everybody, Trac in vintage Dusty-class form and even helping up his opponents up again and Rivers and Bowey providing drive and precision off half-back.

But there was one player who took his game into another universe - big Max. What a leadership game, given the chaos the club has been under. And unlike against Richmond, he's been getting to the front of every throw-in and as a result unstoppable. Admittedly Pittonet doesn't have the speed of Ryan, but Max must be about 125SC points in the first half.

One passage of play where we linked up by hand through the corridor featuring Bowey, ANB and maybe Laurie that has been the highlight for me. Fast, precise hands. Great to watch. Bowey improving is something we may not have factored in.

Blues not flooding back is the reason we have so many marks in fwd 50. But even so, JvR, Fritta, etc taking marks is great.

Salem is so good in the clinches. Hope he can make a go of it in the midfield.

McVee is playing a different role which is interesting.

Good to hear from you BBB.

Some poor goal kicking has at least been bouyed by some good i50 entries and marks though.

Due to it being a preseason/practice match, the lack of full-on pressure and risk taking measn you can't really measure a lot of things.

However, our low kicking inside F50 is a massive change up, as is the variety of people being run through the midfield. Kozzie, Rivers, Sparrow, Bowey all had stints last year but have spent longer there in this game. And Salem in the middle is a huge win.

Attacking thru the guts looks good. Lots too like in that half. We look fit and fast, lotsa tackle pressure. Go Dee’s

Pittonet running around the field at half time with one of the coaches. Assume he is done for the day?

Windsor is freaking quick. I could watch that goal all day.
There really is no substitute for speed. It makes the opposition nervous.

Caleb Windsor just wow!

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
