A text exchange with my triumvirate of Gosch’s girls…

I’ve taught them well 😂

I think I just witnessed them crossing Punt road to go the servo, you’ve got more teaching to do. Learnings as Goody would say

Some injury updates on our players here.

Petty having a planned 'down week' at training which will hopefully allay some fears.

They went to the shops to buy a Mars Bar to give to Kozzie, apparently it’s his favourite chocolate bar (I have no idea how they know this). They came back with slurpies and chips and forgot to buy the Mars bar. So yes, I’ve got a ways to go with them.

I’m not worried about their food choices, more so their decisions to step out, retreat, run, stop half way, run back and eventually make it across one or Melbourne’s busiest roads. Using the traffic lights would be my suggestion.

I’m on my way to Gosch’s, as are a few other DL-ers, no doubt. It’s not raining so the wussier among us will turn up 😁

I’ll leave training reports up to the others since I’ll be otherwise engaged…

For my illustrious leader and me, today is ‘Wrangle The Dads Day.’ She knits little footy jumpers and puts them on teddy bears for new dads and dads-to-be and we have four to give out today, including this little one…

🥹❤️💙

Edit: she also does the same for mums and mums-to-be.

Update: we successfully corralled the new dads, Tommo and Maxy and the two dads-to-be, Kozzie and Nibs. All very grateful recipients, especially Nibs coz Nibs. His baby is due in 10 days!

How cool, a  Bubba Nibs and Bubba Kozzie.

Mama Nibs’ tracker has Baby Nibs clicking up 22.3km of inside belly turning this week, 121 sucks of the thumb and 76 kicks with 100% efficiency.
Good work WCW.

Yesterday I was told by one of the trainers that the Casey sessions (Mon and Weds) are open. Also, the fact that the Club has bothered to announce training sessions leads one to think they must be open.

that was a really great report. Both questions and answers, Thanks for those responsible.

good that Richo was able to confirm Dland training reports so congrats for all those posters who keep us up to date or indeed ahead of the game.

Some observations from my DA buddy who’s at Casey right now…

Maysie and Vines are training with the main group.👍🏽

Schache attack going really well up against Maxy.

Caleb Windsor will play in opening round (that’s a lock-in 😂)

Clarrie has been running all morning. Looking good but still has a ways to go.

The match sim is underway right now, after which the boys have a “HUGE running session” lined up, according to one of the training staff. (They’re gonna just luuuurve that! 😅 especially Maysie who recently told me he f*****g HATES running)

It seems it’s the ‘A’ team vs the ‘B’ team. B team actually holding their own. Caleb is in the A team. Kolt is in the B team. TMac in the A team.

BTW, where are our track-watchers this morning?

Apparently it’s a case of “Windsor… Wow. Just wow.” He and Tracc together = amazing

This is great to hear, been mixed reviews so far. Hopefully it's a sign that he's a quick learner?

Hey Kev, these Casey track-watchers aren’t as diligent as us Gosch’s track-watchers, huh? Not one report, thus far. Sheesh  😒

Maybe more a sign of poor judges

Do we think Schache is a genuine chance for round 1 as ruck/forward?

I don't mind it personally if he's upped his physicality, as he is super mobile.

We've all wished that at some point. His papers were largely marked when he couldn't get near it against a second string North side.

They'll get there, be nice.

They need our support, it is not a competition.

Grateful for any input.

Thanks for conveying your mates observations.

Yep I definitely saw the positive side last week. He was touted as an outside player and yet his attack on the ball was just as good as any other player. He had the added bonus of being silky smooth, quick and accurate. If there is any knock on him I couldn’t see it.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
