Congratulations to Andrew Biddlecombe, Rod Crowe, Ezra Poyas, Nick Sautner, Peter Summers and Shane Valenti who made the VFL squad to take on the WAFL.

Also to Under 23 reps - Rennie Gilchrist, Stefan Martin and Tomi Johnston.

Congratulations to all those Sandy boys named in the respective representative squads....

And thanks to Bazza for letting us know :D !!!

Top effort!

I hope none of them get injured, they are VERY valuable sandy players.

CONGRATS to those boys for making the cut.

Heard earlier on the radio that Rusell Robertson has been selected to play for Sandringham this week. Can anyone shed some light on this or bring us the team?

I'd be assuming that Wheatley passed his fitness test and will be named for the Zebras as well this week.

Fox Sports News just said that Robbo would be playing for Sandy this week.

Bryon and Robbo at Sandy.

How much will the mighty Zebras win by this week? ;)

we should rookie list valenti next year.

he would be in our starting 18 if he were on our list.

is very young and talented.

and yes ive seen him play in the flesh, and he's good

yeah, Valenti's a gun. But I'm concerned about his height. We've already got guys like Davey and Jones in the starting 18. If he got on the end of it, he'd be VERY valuable. It's just the first part.

The annoying thing there? Juice will be forced up the ground as Sautner and Robbo will play deep, with Garland likely to play too...

hmmm. Oh well. Was looking forward to Juice kicking 5+ again as I am going hopefully.... Never mind. As long as it's one of Robbo and Juice.

He was dropped in 2002, I think it was.

He went back to Sandy and took an absolute screamer (and dominated) and was back in the side a couple of weeks later.

Sandy will smash Williamstown going by that side.

Damn work, I would have loved to go down and watch! <_<

didnt they say byron is suspended this week, and will be at sandy for the following 4? i know he is in the team, but thats a change of heart isnt it?

A reward for both parties as a consequence of early resolution of the issue: win/win.

seeing as the rule is 12 melbourne players and 10 non-listed players (i believe this is the rule)

then 2 melbourne listed players will be lining up for sandy ressies this week.

one is definitely bode, the second looks like being garland.

robbo will only play a half a game on the field, and with garland an unlikely started, newton still has a definite chance to kick a bag

I've got nothing to do on Saturday so I'm going to go down and watch my first Zebras match for the year. Looks to be a good one, plenty of young and old demons.

Hope Newton, Frawley, C. Johnson and Buckley show something and Robbo comes through un-injured, Byron turning it on would be nice too. Really looking forward to it.

am i correct in saying that as long as it isn't finals, or we are not playing against a stand alone team we could have 22 demons playing if we wanted?

vanlo, i think we've had situations like this before, and while i am not sure of the exact rule, so i cant confirm or deny what you said, sandy has a history of only playing the 12 melbourne listed players, even when they could play more. this is prob one of the reasons that they are such a strong team; they are their own team, not a melbourne seconds. unfortunately it could also have an impact on the development of some of our players. two sides to the coin, but i am pretty happy, the winning culture is important...

I remember that. In his first week at Sandy he kicked 4 and played a pretty good game, but obviously not good enough for him to have shown he'd learnt his lesson and force himself back into the side. Kicked 3 or 4 the next week playing up the ground on wing/HF but still couldnt get back in. Then, the next week he kicked 5.8 and took about twenty marks playing in the FP.

I went to that match and was gobsmacked. Clearly far far too good for VFL level was our Robbo.

This game is not on the ABC to let anyone know who is hoping it was going to be.

I will be going to have my first look at Newton so I am hoping to come away a better judge of his talent an application.

I support the wraps on Valenti. Height challenged maybe but he is better than a couple of dozen rookies and players on AFL lists.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
