But that doesnt mean he's not worth giving a go, even if he is 'safe' come seasons end.

Robbie Flower looked a champion at 18. As did Lyon (a bit).

Clean them all out so that we afford McLean, Pettard, Sylvia, Moloney etc.

im just playing devils advocate here but sylvia hasnt shown heaps either (except for last week ) does he deserve more time than CJ?

Hell, it might be good if CJ shows something at AFL level.

In that time he has been on he has seemed all at sea ands to build his confidence and belief that he can play at this level. He wont do it by turning out the crud he has so far.

I think he will make it. But he has to take the bit between the teeth and deliver.

Sylvia has and has OP for the past 3 years which has crucified his development. He shown that he can compete at AFL when fit. His situation is completely different to CJ.

Bell was being constantly run down at one stage there, so CJ's not alone. However, Bell seems to have adapted his thinking processes and/or adjusted to the speed of the game and it seems less of an issue now.

Hell, it might be good if CJ shows something at AFL level.

I thought he 'showed something' last time we played WC and WC.

i agree they are differnet, but CJ has shown high level skills, and a great ability when playing at sandy.

is it the pace of the game he struggles with? or does he get played in a different role for the mfc than for sandy?

More than happy to give you 'my opinion'.

Some kids run out for their first game and they have poise and balance. Regardless of their size and strength, they pick up the ball cleanly and deliver effective disposals. They won't baulk at a contested possession and they'll display signs of having a good football brain. The really good young players have an influence on the game immediately.

In my opinion Chris Johnson has shown none of the above. I am really frustrated by his efforts and am more than happy when I see him not named in our line ups. I don't see him as having a future with MFC.

I want him to make it too and too had him in my dream team at the strt of the season expecting a big return.. But the games he has played he just ran around the boundry line like a boundry umpire and looked fat.......

Lossing Scott thompson back to Adelaide after building him up really [censored] me off.. I hope CJ doesnt go to another club and star like Johno but i cant see it happening...

The Crows were keen for Thompson and he wanted to go home..

I can see CJ wanting to go back to WA but no one wanting him......

But he really should bea ble to get a game in front of Nathan Brown so he must be really struggling.

Sylvia gets extra points because

- the seventh best midfielder/HFF can help win a match, the seventh best 186 - 190 cm defender probably will be playing for Sandy

- Sylvia high-side is like last week. He has shown glimpses for ten minutes. Johnson's high-side is handy. It is too some extent related to who is built like a brick outhouse.

Good post. A club insider tells me that their is a view within the club that he panics under pressure. This is not a well regarded trait for an AFL footballer. Shame - his old man was a gun although had very little recognition outside MFC (but that's normal).

He doesnt get enough matches to build some form. Coaching panel needs to put some faith in him and let him get beaten every now and then. If he is going to be a part of the red and blue, this year is the time to test him out.

Give him 5 games regardless, and see what he can do. This season is beyond repair, lets test the list out!
