Does anyone know the actual recovery time for Trac? In some insane bizarro-world where we made a prelim, would he be a chance of returning? I remember reading that his spleen recovery could be up to 12 weeks but I'm imagining that would be before he could even start training.

Stevic and Gianfagna (delisted) have a particular disliking for MelbourneFC.

Koltyn Tholstrup was the second casualty from the Sunday game, with delayed concussion symptoms pushing him into required protocols.

“Koltyn had a head knock in the game,” Griffith said.

“He passed the initial SCAT (sport concussion assessment tool) and was cleared of anything there.

“Following us returning to Melbourne, he had some delayed symptoms with headaches and altered vision and has now entered the concussion protocol. So, he'll progress through that as symptoms settle.”

And of course … not sure why BBB pushed on this year. I know he had a contract but he can’t play two games back to back and can hardly run.  A sad finish !!!

Ben Brown was absent from both AFL and VFL matches due to some knee soreness.

“Ben had some knee soreness last week following the game, we gave him every opportunity to be able to play the game, but unfortunately just wasn't able to,” Griffith said.

“So, we'll reassess that this week, with our main priority to make sure Ben is able to function to be at AFL level for the back end of the season.”

Salem’s body is cooked. Such a damn shame!

He will struggle to get back I recon. Doggie Brown will move to the backline next year and likely take his spot. In my opinion his ball use has declined and he has lost a yard of pace.

I would put Christian Salem in cotton wool for the rest of the year to try and get him through the preseason and a better 2025. Very sad when a player nears the end of their career, he has been so good for us.

It's difficult to see Salem coming back in '24. I'd prefer to put him on ice so he can hopefully have a full pre-season and get more games into players like Howes and K.Brown.

Agreed.  Salem has had a good career but it appears injuries are slowing him down.  It was spoken about that he could step into the midfield this year.  Certainly not the case.

arrgggh re: Salem. poor fella, injury prone and body not holding up under the rigours of AFL. Hopefully his contract was front-ended so he can play out his days guilt free at the Dees.

I can think of about 400,000 reasons why.

Might have been worth exploring paying BBB out and sliding him across to an AFLW and/or assistant coaching role. Presumably his salary would still be in our cap, but surely that could have been absorbed with Grundy et al. traded out last year.

May refractures ribs. Didn’t see the contest anybody see anything? I wonder if the incident may have been a rib tickler or in play?

It’s the same ribs as before, so it may not have taken much to re-injure them.
I suggest it’s season over for him.

Umpire 22 is a shocker for the Demons!!

Stevic umpired very well in our GF win. No sign of dislike for the Demons there.
