Few moves happening.

Unfortunately we've lost George Grey who's been a solid contributor for the last number of years. He's off to Frankston.

Talented junior prospect who was incredibly unlucky to miss out in last year's AFL draft is joining Casey from Frankston. Was in the AFL Academy and played at Dandenong Stingrays as a big bodied midfielder.

Casey have also recruited ex St Kilda Leo Connelly who was delisted this year.

Played 7 games at elite level all back in 2021.

Played all year in the VFL for Sandy and averaged 19 disposals playing as a half back/midfield.

Looking forward to Szybkowski's pronunciation from commentators 😂

Szybkowski = Shib-kov-ski

Fortunately, BT doesn't do VFL

Unfortunately, he still does AFL

Thanks @dazzledavey36

Grey is a huge loss. Had an excellent 2022 in premiership year and even better 2023. He’s a smokey to get a rookie spot but might again miss out.

I think Leo Connolly is an excellent addition.  Good pace and run through half back or on the wing.

I don’t think Riak Andrew will get drafted or rookied but has real upside potential so would be good to continue his development in a system like Casey (whilst also getting some MFC development).

@Whispering_Jack  @KC from Casey

tell someone at Casey to get a pen and a contract

Local boy who imv was very very unlucky not to get drafted.  His unavailability for the combine was a disappointment.

Kade De La Rue
State: Victoria Country
State League Club: Dandenong Stingrays
Community Club: Beaconsfield
Date of Birth: 19/11/05
Height: 183cm

A medium midfielder/forward whose strength is accumulating the ball and then making good decisions with his neat disposal. Had an excellent season with the Dandenong Stingrays in the Coates Talent League where he averaged 20.5 disposals, 4.4 tackles and 2.8 clearances across 11 matches. Represented Victoria Country in all four of its matches at the National Championships including being among his team’s best with 22 disposals and five marks in the victory against Western Australia. Was unable to test at the Draft Combine due to injury.

Really nice kick of the footy, probably too plain for AFL but happy to have a close look at him at Casey to see if he can go to another level. I like the idea that he can play mid, wing or half back so he can be used to bolster the young demons rather than hog a role.

Does anyone actually care? As I have been saying for YEARS desolve this Basket Case of a competition and replace it with AFL reserves! George who ? Who cares? BRING BACK AN ALIGNED AFL RESERVES with no Frankston, Southport or anyone else non aligned to an AFL team!

@KC from Casey

surely Kobe is going to be in Casey list for 2024

father-son connection and he’s shown great form this year

he deserves to keep his potential AFL dream alive

20 metre sprint at state combine of 3.0 seconds as good as any with good burst through half back

Kobe Shipp

Defender/Winger

187cm – 80kg

Played plenty of football as a bottom-aged player for Dandenong and made a name for himself on AFL Grand Final day last year with an intercept-marking masterclass in the under-17s all-stars clash.

Shipp is good one-on-one and distributes well out of the back half, but played on a wing throughout the national championships given Vic Country’s talent-laden halfback line. He has had excellent year for Dandenong and holds his width to get possessions in space.

AS REPORTED

VFL: top signing for North Melbourne VFL squad. The Kangas have locked in ex-Demon Deakyn Smith, who won the Casey Demons' best and fairest this year, polling votes in every round.

Deakyn deserves another go at Arden Street. Clarko, Todd and Co may sit up and take notice. Kids got talent!

Was always a wrap for him and hope he makes it at North.

If we’re putting in requests then I thought Tarkyn O’Leary was unlucky to not be drafted and would be worth a look as an outside runner.

As well as Sammy van Rooyen, who probably just stays at Claremont and goes through the grades but it would be nice to have him over here.

Agree totally,In an area, I deem weak on our list, being small backs,I feel we should have retained him.At least for another year.Best of luck Deakin, hope you make it.With regards Shipp andO’leaty both should be given a trading run with the hope of making our last pick via SPP.

In retrospect probably a victim of our increasingly gentrified or is it geriatricfried(?) list. Not naming names but there are a few gents nearing the superannuated end of their tethers. Trust Goody has the Tardis tuned up for a career defining retrospective.

Tarkyn O’Leary should be at Sandringham VFL in 2024. Outstanding runner. Elite skills. Excellent GF performance.  Very unlucky. He played 3 games for Sandy VFL team last year and impressed. Thoughts Saints were his option but they went Schoenmaker with final pickup.

Shifter, is that you? 😜😳🤪

I'd love Casey to sign delisted Gold Coast forward, Brodie McLaughlin. Still has something to offer an AFL list, in my opinion.

Yes I agree but Casey already is a logjam of tall forwards - Schache, Jefferson, BBB, Tmcd -plus alternative of Fullerton/Verrell. McLaughlin should go to Frankston as their number 1 forward.

As mentioned, would love to see Kade Delarue and Kobe Shipp join Casey. Both have plenty to offer aside from being locals.

Have a feeling Shipp will be a late developer just like his father.

Great signing. Definitely hope he gets game time at Casey next year.  He has the run and skills to be an AFL player in the future 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

    Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
