This Saturday night our final H&A match will take place vs the Lions at Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield, QLD. The message is simple… if you can, PLEASE attend this match!

Unfortunately there’s only 12 of our core DA who can attend, and there probably won’t be many Dees fans. This is such a shame as Lions fans will undoubtedly turn up in comparatively big numbers.

The girls tell us time and again how very important fans are. They need to hear encouragement, it really matters to them, so much so that we’ve changed our position at Ikon matches from behind the goals to the pocket because they told us they can hear us clearly from there.

With Adelaide having beaten North today, a win for us next week is crucial.

If you or your family and/or friends can attend, feel free to PM me for who to contact/tickets/info etc.

BACK TO BACK BECKONS!!!

Win next week and it’s a (possible) home GF for Dees fans to reel out the excuses!

Geez I really hope that doesn’t happen. But if MFC fans are able to attend a home final/grand final but choose not to, I don’t wanna hear these same folks whinge about not having seen a Melbourne grand final in person. We support our Club therefore we should support ALL of our players, ie. anyone who pulls on a red and blue jumper.

I almost forgot to add…

IN MY HUMBLE OPINION. 😉

Where will the home Grand Final be played should we go all the way? If it is Casey, you lose any chance of getting more than 5k there!

Definitely at Ikon. That’s already been decided.

It’s the grand final rematch this Saturday: Brisbane vs Us at Brighton Homes Arena. They chose that grand final venue last year, much to our chagrin, despite having never played on it. It was their new ground so after the match Daisy said we gave them “the housewarming from hell” 😂 which was printed on T-shirts and which still makes us laugh now.

Apparently Casey has a capacity of 9,000 which is only 3,000 less than Ikon (12,000). But of that 9,000 only 350 are seats. And they’re always reserved for players’ families and friends.

Personally I reckon Marvel or even the ‘G would be a better venue because I think we’d attract more than 12,000. But just delighted it won’t be at Casey.

Marvel and MCG would be unavailable due to big bash. In a perfect world I think Marvel would be the best option. A bit of a shame that it’s Ikon. I just see that giant Carlton logo and it doesn’t sit well with me.

The players love playing at Ikon more than any other ground, including Casey. They would happily play all home games there. Besides, we’re still unbeaten at Ikon and the girls feel like it’s a home ground, despite the eyesore that is the enormous CFC.

First thing I thought of was that hideous CFC. The colour is right I'd like us to have a Melbourne red and blue banner to cover it up for the day should we make it and give us more of a home game feel.

Honestly, we don’t need to do that in order to have a home game feel. We played our finals (other than the GF) there last year and it was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere couldn’t have been better. The CFC emblem didn’t make any difference at all. Besides, I can’t imagine the CFC allowing their emblem to be covered up by anything.

You hiding in this video somewhere @WalkingCivilWar?

Before even watching it I was gonna say there’s no way I’d be in it because I actually did bugger all that night. 😂 But I actually am in it, albeit for a blink and you miss it length of time.

As most know I have little interest in the girls game as the following will show. Do all the girls teams wear short socks?

If you have no interest in the “girls game” OD, one wonders why you would possibly care to know what the length of their socks are?

Just saw some photos on here and was wondering NC. Is that not allowed? It's getting hard to discuss anything on here these days. I thought it was just an innocent question. But perhaps not!

I'm thinking a laser projector of the MFC imprint over the top of the CFC. They're just similar enough that it could work for a couple of hours of trolling the Blues.

I wouldn't normally do this, but...

OK Boomer.

OD, you do not need to tell us that you have no interest in the “girls game”. I’m sure it’s not intended but it sounds condescending and disrespectful. The development of AFLW has been amazing and the performance of the Demons fantastic. We should be interested and supportive.

Fair go Ernie!

OD was simply expressing his own view - I don't see how you read disrespect into it.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

Concerningly, average attendances in 2024 were 2,660 fans per match, with the women’s game incurring an annual loss of approximately $50 million.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
