not that it matters to us know but was it just me or in the first quarter was that ball kicked out of bounds n the full in the bullfrogs forward line right in front of carroll and it wasnt paid a free kick.....

i heard the umpire say "he didnt see it so im happy to throw it in if you want" ...

i seen the replay it was out of bounds on the full by a mile did anyone else notice this???

i was dumbfounded........

Was definitely out of bounds on the full.

I was sitting above the boundary line and it was as clear as the day. The goal umpire called it out, but his call was dismissed by the umpire who should have seen it in the first place... the boundary umpire.

Even the Bulldog supporters around me found it completely pathetic that 3 men needed to have a discussion over the most basic, and simple decision.

And don't get me started about Junior's tackle from behind that was deemed to be 'in the back'.

I tell you what, the standard of umpiring is becoming more of a joke each week.

your right cross was run down and it was droppign the ball, there was no way it could of been in the back... macca leant to the side ...

Jaded somethign has to be done about these umpires who seem to be blind sided right in front of the ball they get paid to do their job and cant seem to do it properly...

the level of umpiring yesterday was quite terrible but i dotn know what else to say about it...

good to see someone seen the out of bounds and not just me i thought everyone had a lapse of concentration and no one seen it i was just dumbfounded...

The goasl umpires allowed to over-rule yes?

Because I was right behind him, so had the same line of sight, and he MUST have seen it go out of bounds on the full.

Macca's tackle was no different to Pickett's the week before, a text book example of how to tackle!

Another comical effort was when Miller(I think) took a juggled contested mark on centre wing in front of the benches. The ball spilled out onto the turf and the umpire consequently paid advantage to the demons and play on. ????????

I have a theory - what were our odds to finish bottom before the season started???? Perhaps the umps have got together and had a big wage on us to win the wooden spoon. I know it is ridiculous but after two weeks in a row with dubious decisions that could have influenced the game, I am starting to wonder!!!!!

For those that can't spot it - this is tongue in cheek so don't bombard me!

I hate to umpire bash but they hace contributed heavily to our last two losses.

Some points :

1. Cooney acknowledged the ball was out and threw it back to Carroll and went onto the mark. Why didn't the umpires accept this admission. If it was cricket the player would be being called back when he has walked and admitted he was out. That is nonsense.

2. Whether Junior got Cross in the back I will leave to others, but in the last quarter right near umpire McLaren, West fell onto Juniors back and lay on top of him, as the ball went into our goalsquare and then was rebounded for a Dogs goal. It was shown clearly on the replay and should have been a free kick in our goal square.

3. 5 frees to Dogs none to us in the last quarter.

4. Umpire Mclaren standing meters from Davey at half forward in the last quarter when he was dragged to the ground with the ball meters away. You guessed it play on and another Dogs goal.

5. A soft touch on the shoulder by Warnock in the first quarter to Giansiracusa a free and goal 10 meters out and the comment from Tim Watson, soft but technically correct, yet Miller, Neitz and Sylvia in bear hugs not allowed to go for the ball, play on.

Need I go on. I am not blaming the umpires alone but we seem to cop this more than our fair share. How many frees does Neita get a year? The answer is very few and on last years stats he was the lowest free kick received full forward in the AFL yet one of the highest against. maybe we should be more dramatic and go to ground a-la Lloyd and milk some.

PS. Back Scott West to have no case to answer for Godfrey " fainting " om the wing and being in the hands of trainers for a few minutes as West jogged away from him as he lay on the ground.

I also thought Jeff Wwhite was very harshly done by in the boundary throw in ruck contests all day. Can think of at least 4 occasions where he was clearly manhandled out of the contest, and wrapped up in a way that did not allow him to gte near the ball.

Got a mate to tape the replay for me, going round to his house to get it tonight. Will be able to point out the exact times later on (probably tomorrow).

I also noticed that in the last 2-3 mins of the game the umpires were scared to give away free kicks to any team, i think they were because if they gave a free to us then the bulldog fans will complain, vice versa

redleg i agree with you entirely, i think its becoming a blight on the game. i dont mind occasional mistakes but the umpires give too much leway sometimes and just pay the softest of soft another.

of the bulldogs first 7 goals. 6 came either directly kicked from free kicks, or as the result of a free kick (ie free kick on the flank, the kick was marked in the forward 50 and a goal kicked. 6 of their first 7 the umpires had a direct involvment in. how does that work? we get a lot of free kicks on the half back flanks, and not many kicking into our 50.

What was worse was that cooney even handed the ball to the melbourne player cos he knew it was out!

sylvia and godfrey were dragged to the ground in the goal square in the last quater and both were called play on

we need our president to point these statistics out int he media and these missed frees so, like all the other coaches/ president winging they start paying free's to our forwards

Garry Lyon raised the McDonald tackle on Footy Confidential last night. The whole panel agreed it was holding the ball, and definitely not a push in the back.

Do expect any favours from the umpires this week either.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
