On Brad Miller, anyone who reads my posts knows what I think of him, basically I don't think he's up to it,

HOWEVER, he is the only one on our list who even resembles a CHF so he MUST be retained.

what rumour about byron?

its not a rumour..just a crackpot...

the thing i would like to see now is the youngsters getting as much game time as possible and perhaps some fringe players getting a game, just so they can rise their trade value and get us a better deal in the draft, but number 1 is playing the youngsters.

Why a CHF should be able to kick a ball 50mt+ not handball !!!! Off ya go we tried to get him of the list and no club wanted him why is that?

Hope ya prove me wrong :o

I'd expect Bizzell, Ward, and/or Brown to be delisted at the end of this year. Given Godders last three weeks I'd be inclined to offer him a one year contract. He fills a role well, however Bartram should be pushing him out one he gets fit. It won't surprise me if Miller is traded, he just doesn't seem to have it all there. He has flashes of good stuff, and then he does something completely stupid.

Obviously we can't delist all the players like Wheatly, Holland and co. But we do need to get rid of AT LEAST three of these very average players. Replace them with kids, and look to the future.

NOTE: Holland, Ward, and Brown all did well today, but they are not consistent enough and their mistakes cost us BIG TIME.

Bruce does make some errors, but he can also hurt teams with some great play.

Brown and Ward give you the errors, without much of the good stuff going the other way.

bruce....bruce....just, ah i don't know. even when he gives his all, which you cant ask for more than, he seems to be crusing

Would you say Bruce makes more errors than these guys? They make more, and they are simple errors like when Brown it backwards and handed a goal against Sydney, but they happen on a regular basis. Bruce makes mistakes like everyone, but in terms of effective kicks vs wayward kicks he'd for the most part be in the green. Players like Brown, Ward, Holland, etc. constantly have kicks fall short or off target and give the opposition a chance to get a ball back. They each have their moments where they play well, but every time either one of the gets the ball i say a short prayer that it'll turn out OK.

PS. I agree Bruce should be better, but you cannot lump him in with these guys.

Not true.

He is neither our best player skills-wise, nor is he our most important player.

He is a good footballer because he is so versatile, but his disposal is extremely questionable, and so are his leadership skills.

I can name at least 3 players who are better or more important than Bruce.

Bruce doesn't deserve some of the criticism that comes his way most of the time, but on the whole he is overrated by Melbourne supporters.

and commentators/media who have joined in the chorus in pigeon holing him as one of the leagues 'superstars'

i used to be fine with it when we were winning, becuase focus was on the players that i didn't preceive to be winning us the games. injuries have shown that these 'match-winners' don't get the job done

Name the 3 please

Neitz, McLean, Rivers.

Also, Travis Johnstone when on song is better skills-wise, and has more influence on the outcome of games.

Please don't mistake my comments as "Bruce-bashing". He is a good player, but he isn't our best.

0-7, play people who have a go!

brown, ward, godfrey, they have a dip!

they go in! if it wasn't for the change in attitude of the club we'd be 0-7 with no respect. i am proud of the boys today because they had a dip. walk them over hot coals at training and select them at that. godfrey brown ward would be some of the first to bleed for this jumper.

missed tackles killed us today, allowed them to free up and run the lines which they love so much.

Thank you!

i would trade Bruce while he has some value left...

(sits and waits to be howled down)

dont forget bruce does have a claf problem and possibly while his kicks are worse than normal, but he still drops the ball too far from his body which means he has to stretch it reach it meaning a terrible kick, some body at the club should have noticed this by now

if miller were traded i think he would be great for another club, but i dont think he fits into our structure at all...

could be very good trade bate

Truly, what would you get for Miller in the market?

And unless you were going for a Judd and the deal was advantageous to MFC, why would you trade Bate?

We have a group of players who are too good for VFL level but just aren't premiership quality, unfortunately they represent alot of our depth. The players that we need to make some hard decisions on are:

D.Ward - Honest goer but poor disposal often results in turn overs

N.Brown - Love the bloke, but I just think the game has gone past him.

C.Bizzell - Can't see him resurrecting his career now.

B.Pickett - He needs to improve his fitness, saw the rumour about him on Demonology, not sure if true or not.

R.Ferguson - He looks like he should make a good defender but for some reason he doesn't deliver

Warnock - Keep playing him this year so we can see what he's capable of, although other delistings will probably save him.

B.Holland - Jaded said it all

P.Wheatley - Been in the sytem for along time without ever really consolidating his spot.

M.Jamar - Looked the goods but hasn't come on as expected, I can see Neaves overtake him very quickly.

H.Neville - If he's still playign for Sandy's 2nd's at the end of the year he is gone.

Let's face it, we are not going to play finals this year, and finishing 9th or 10th with around 10 or 11 wins would be the absolute worst thing that could happen. We're better off either giving some of the young blokes more exposure to AFL footy or finding out once and for all if some of our borderline players are up to it, eg Ferguson and Warnock.

We're obviously still hamstrung by injuries so that will affect us with who we can play but if the rumour is true about Pickett then I'd promote Neaves straight away and give him half a season to see what he's capable of. Newtonand Buckley are two more that I'd liek to have a look at fairly soon.

Time is up Bizzell and Ferguson, surely they would have played a few games by now if they are going to be part of the future.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
