Very interesting..

Crows will take him to send a message now!

What does his camp think about Melbourne?

This feels like a very strange move. Is he trying to torpedo his own chances of going top 5 by putting off Eagles & Crows?

Sid Draper is a future star.  I didn’t think he would make it past the Crows pick.  99% sure if he’s available, Crows grab him.  If he dropped to “5”, definitely be very tempted to grab him.  He’s a complete package as a midfielder.

Wow, are would be draftees really calling the shots pre draft these days?

So much entitlement.

I’ll just be happy with the best player in the draft thanks

Not sure if it has already been posted, but here is the 2024 Under 18 All Australian Team.

Hopefully the Demons can draft one or two (or even three) of these young guns.

Brisbane winning a flag and getting another ashcroft and another top 15 f/s (sam marshall) AT A POINTS DISCOUNT  is gonna cause some vomit in mouths

Who is Sam Marshall's father?

6 of the All Australian under 18s are assigned to father son or academy picks.  Lions - Ashcroft & Marshall, Blues- Camporeale, suns- Lombard & Uwland (2025) and Logan Smith (GWS Giants) .

Lionsargghhhh

Ashcroft will likely go at pick 2. Brisbane will need 2014 draft points to bid on him after discounting.

Let's say their academy player Marshall slides and gets bid on at 30. That's another 432 points needed after discounting.

2446 points needed. Brisbane will have 1228 points prior to trade and free agency so they'll need to find another 1218 points just for those two players... possibly more if Marshall gets an earlier bid or if Richmond bids on Ashcroft at #1.

I'm honestly not sure how they get this done without giving up a lot of their 2025 draft capital, or trading someone out this year. As an example, our picks 37, 45, 50 and 61 are worth 1238 points. That would cover it, but only if we were trading them for 2025 picks.

I assume Dylan Robertson will leave and they might get some points back there but will still be a long way off...

Clubs should bid for Marshall within range 12-15.  If it’s after that, then it’s a disgrace and clubs aren’t pushing hard enough.  He’s good enough to be picked at 12-15 so make Lions pay the right price for him !!

If we needed up with another top 15 pick and  managed to pick up three of the listed players below I’d be stoked! (Yes it means one would have to slide to anb’s pick)

Draper/Reid/Langford, Berry/tauru/x.Lindsey and Hannaford/Shanahan

wishful thinking

Interesting, KPF at 5 and we have a choice of a few good mids at the effective pick 7.

Rather mid than a forward that will probably end up like Weidman

Bring on the good stuff now. Trade period and draft.

Whilst I'm not expecting major player movement during the trade period, I'm hoping for some clever pick trading.

Maybe our next coach will come through the Demonland system as well. There are so many here that would do a much better job..........apparently 😏

Yep, a lot of supporters still suffer from PTSD over that one. Especially since Curnow went later. Can't win them all i guess.

Will Ashcroft h being  on the smaller side yet so strong through the hips it’s making me think Jagga Smith could do something similar.

good evasiveness , great in tight , and football brains !!

The Lions will have to trade a future in or trade out players. Otherwise they will have to pass on Marshall. I suspect they will trade out player/s.

Both Ashcroft and Marshall are mids.

Gold Coast have Lombard as an Academy pick this year. Their 1st 3 picks are 6,12 and 20. He is expected to go in the Top 12 or so picks. We will know closer to the draft. They have plenty of picks from 20 on to match a bid. They likely plan to use pick 6 on Rioli. They plan to trade out players and bring Noble in,

We may make a play for pick 12 or 20 using a future pick or combination of picks.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
