We don’t need a number 1 ruck, we’ve already got one (didn’t we just learn that?). We need a competent back up ruckman.

No competent developed ruckman wants to be a back up though.

We either get a D grade ruckman like Naismith or a B/C grade ruck forward like Chol or Casboult (or both).

He sounds ideal in the TMac up the ground role

Even as a tall winger

What really dissappoints me is his lack of presence and physicality.

Feed him up and tell him he is the new Hawkins?

Completely agree.

There is no doubt we should be chasing a bonafide A-grade forward/ruck. But while we have him on our list, we should also be doing everything we can to help Schache reach his potential. He still has enormous upside and has shown glimpses at Casey of what he is capable of. I hope after a big preseason he surprises us next year.

the only thing stopping Schache from becoming a gun is Schache.

You cant teach c..t unfortunately

I am stunned to read that Goldstein is heading to Pies, who have Cox, Cameron and Frampton, when we basically have Max and no other mature ruckman. We must have someone in mind.

He could borrow 90% of Maynard’s and still the bloke would have way too much

We might poach Aiden Begg from them who’s a handy young ruck.

I think they see Frampton as primarily a KPP. McStay and Moore have injury issues. Howe and Cox aren’t young.

But yes, I certainly hope we have a plan

I see the Roos have delisted Jacob Edwards, a 202cm Rookie. Never played a game, but the Roos development has been as bad as our used to be. Does anyone know anything about him, and is worth a look? Speculative, I know, but we have to look at all options.

The club definitely has a plan. With Grundy going they would be amiss not no have a back up plan A, B or C. Just be prepared as this plan/player will not be as good as Gawn or Grundy.

In a full season only twice did he crack double digit disposals and only twice did he crack double digit hit outs. He’s a cautionary tale for the midseason draft

We should have learned from Sam Weideman - lovely guy, trains hard, but just zero aggression.

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.
