Flip side, if we open up the door for them to take the bloke that they want - that they know we could have got - it could be leverage to deal with us on pick 1.
I’m not 100% sure blackmail is the way to go though.

Besides, Flynn’s decision.

Well maybe not blackmail, but working together.

Agree on the first part but as for the second, Goodwin doesn't manage (rest) players very often if at all

Given Max has been injured the past 2 final series, that might have to change!

Off to the Eagles. Close thread.

SO we go in to 2024 without a creditable back up ruck Great management !

We'll have to draft a mature aged ruckman from the State Leagues, which is what we should have done last year. We'll also need to trade for a forward/ruckman like Lobb.

you do realise that the trade period hasn't even STARTED yet?

and that there's a whole draft - or two! - to come before the calendar year is out?

Yes I do of course but available players are already committing to clubs  understand??

Under the current system this is our best option. Whether it’s Lobb is debatable, but given that Forwards who can give a competent chop out in the ruck are extremely hard to find, Lobb is worth considering.
Failing that, is it Van rooyen ?

PS :  If the AFL were committed to the development of young Ruckmen , I believe they should allow for a separate substitute for a reserve ruckman during a game to cover for injuries.

never liked Flynn anyway

🤪🤣

Flynn is to good to be playing VFL we need a developing ruck/ fwd 23-26 yo that can pinch hit when needed whilst they develop him to the next level. Needs to be strong, tall 202cm or more and highly competitive with reasonable kicking and marking skills. Not much to ask really.???

Blackmail is in fact working together - even though under duress.

JVR has been very competent covering for Max, but is far too much a bigger value as a forward to consider this other than perhaps doing ruck work forward while Max drops a kick behind the play.
I realize that Faris-White is a long long way off in his ruck development, but Casey watchers, does he show any signs at all of developing into a forward ruck?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
