Saints have done well to snag a goal just before half time. I so wish we could have done the same.

Good response from the saints. It was looking like it was going to be a rout so fair play to them for getting back into this game

Nearly messed it up with another silly advantage call.

Umpires getting involved, haven't seen all the replays to confirm those Free Kicks were legit.

Usually they say on AFL site subbed out with injury if concussed.

Doesn't say anything. But he was clearly unbalanced and his feet were buckling as he went off.

Would have to be concussed you would think, but it's Carlton.

He looked genuinely out of it when the team was singing the song in the rooms too.

We definitely need a couple of elite kicks in our list, they can make the difference by getting goals from almost impossible angles and distances.

Giants make our skill level look very ordinary.

Hogan and Bedford would be handy right about now for us.

How didn't the footy department see that Bedford was the more superior small forward than Chandler?

We did not want him to go. He asked to be traded. Was out of our hands.

Because there wasn't many opportunities presented to him last year.

Popped into the footy. It's nice just being a neutral observer.

Also the difference to our game. Both forward lines have open space

And Toby just nutts another one.

Bedford ugh.  Still can't believe we let him go and went with Laurie.

No offence to to the young fella but they are chalk and cheese in terms of speed & finish.

Even slightly ahead of Chandler imv and will probably jump ahead in coming years.

GWS will be a difficult opponent for port or lions. And they don’t seem to mind playing at away grounds. Tough on the inside, great spread, solid defensively and some real method going inside f50. They’re a well coached team and can’t be taken for granted

Every thread ends up as Team X would beat us. Without fail.

What is it with all the Bedford revisionism in this thread. He did not show this kind of form when playing for us. And he had chances to do so.

You know who wouldn’t beat us? West Coast

Love your work WCW but I'm sorry to inform you the quality of the crepe paper used in each team's banner does not portent the future.

Love your work too, Chook. Firstly, the Swans - like most other clubs - use plastic and not crepe paper; secondly, the problem wasn’t the construction of the backing, it was that the sleeve (the cylindrical vinyl attachment through which the pole is inserted) had split in two; thirdly, and most importantly, I wasn’t being serious anyways. 😁

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
