Frustratingly similar games. 🤑

Both games should have gone the other way but in both cases only have themselves to blame.

Carlton stopped dead in the last. We just need a good start and we'll run all over them

Yeah Sydney 7.8 to 4.3 in the second half tells me of a team that does it’s damage in the first 2 to 3 quarters.

You only have to cast your mind back to round 22 when they stopped to a halt in against us in the second half of the last quarter.

We need to set the tone, take initiative and hit the scoreboard early as we’re clearly a last quarter team. Can’t be playing catch up all night.

If the goal umpire is unsure or unsighted then why call it anything? Just say no call!! Then the system has to decide and WHEN it cant, they can start to fix it.

He was groggy on his feet walking off the ground, that ain’t ribs!

Gary Lyon suggests ribs in the Fox post match. See what transpires.

Why were the Fox commentators lauding Sydney for their comeback but bashed us even though we did exactly the same thing?

It’s bad enough seeing Collingwood win, Carlton is right up there, I had to turn it off, I was waiting for Cripps to thank the boys in yellow for getting them over the line tonight….

Probably because Sydney were given little chance to win the game would be my guess.

Read the room. Nobody likes Melbourne. Sydney are brave. Maynard is a hero. Carlton will win the flag.

Its Carlton next week. McKay out concussion. Martin likely to get a week for striking.

Usually they say on AFL site subbed out with injury if concussed.

Doesn't say anything. But he was clearly unbalanced and his feet were buckling as he went off.

Would have to be concussed you would think, but it's Carlton.

Concussion protocols and tribunal rulings do not apply to Carlton. Pass jail and collect $100.

My most despised club and even more so its supporters.

I’m not fussed about McKay playing or not. If he plays we will probably play a third tall which will suit us. The weather looks dry all week so it’ll be a dry deck. Martin not playing is a bigger win. He was very good against us last time.

Even at draft time it was weird watching him slip down. Was praying we took him but alas wound up with Bowey and Laurie. Not JTs best draft that one.

Pretty much every week a non-MFC player will be killing it and someone on here has to post 😩 we should’ve drafted (in this case, Errol Gulden) instead of (in this case, Laurie and Bowey) 😩 Such a redundant comment and it’s so tiresome.

Marchbank claimed he touched one of Sydney's goals in the last quarter.

He was on the bench at the time.........

Carlton doc's will say grogginess is a symptom of sore ribs

Did anyone else notice how dazed and confused big Harry looked singing the song with the team?

Bloke looks like he’s got 12 pints onboard.

Voss has said McKay is in the concussion protocols.

So Sydney do the same thing as us and lose because of bad kicking. When is the club going to realise how important that is in the forward line and do something about it.

It’s a complete mind-boggling out-of-this-world load of [censored]. Default is a goal, overrule by evidence. It’s the simplest rule tweak possible and yet nothing.

Yes. Did see that.

Between that, and his two absolute clangers on goal tonight, I hope he plays.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
