An absolute master class that included taps to players, taking the ball from the ruck, groundball follow up and of course 3 goals

Might watch the replay. Followed the game but was more involved in the Sydney game. He went the whole four quarters.

Where can you watch the replay?

Rucked about 75% with relief from Schache who played down back and occasionally Verrall

Should be on the AFL site. Hit VFL link on there. Only the Tiger/Pie match is up at the moment.

Laurie for Chandler?

NO!

In TMac Grundy Hibberd

Out. Melksham Smith Turner

Cant ignore Grundy’s game today for Casey and he will have something to prove against the Filth. Smith doesn’t do enough IMO.

Smith super sub, not full time gig.

This absolutely won't happen.

Absolutely no way Hibbo is coming back into the team lol

Why’s that?

Only change id make is obvious Melk for TMac. Bring TMac to CHF & make Smith our sub.

Laurie had some really nice touches so I’d keep him in too.

While Disco isn’t necessarily as good as Tommo yet when defending one on one, he’s a much better intercept marker so I’d keep him in.

At the end of the day you really only want to make a change if you have too when you’re consistently winning & especially leading into finals.

I am really wondering about the potential inclusion of Grundy. The filth have 2 rucks and one of them is a yank who will probably send his boot into Maxys back. Just a thaught.

Why not?

Must play two rucks against the Pies.
in: Grundy, TMac

out: Smith (to sub), Melk(so unlucky!), Laurie

Grundy played against 2 ruck Carlton  didn't do us much good then. He's not playing

He could against the smaller Pies forwardline. Elliot is a good match up

They'll give the job to McVee and he'll do a fine job imo.

I don’t mean to be rude but I’m really starting to question the intelligence of a couple of you wanting Grundy back in the team.

We literally went over this after the Carlton game, Max becomes half the player he is when he has to split ruck duty with Brodie & because Brodie is one dimensional you end having to play him more ruck than Max for him to be effective.

Could you have Grundy as the sub or is that the stupidest idea since dog goggles?

Maybe Grundy in dog goggles to match Cox

Bobby Hill, Ginnivan?

We need Hibbo for the Pies

No, we dont.

Rivers, Salem and Bowey can all take care of these two front runners.

Disco v Tommo will depend how much they think Cox and Cameron will play forward which brings the additional mature body tall in to play. If they don’t think that will be a consistent threat they probably stick with Disco. Hibbo as the third tall an outside choice if they think he has enough height to go with Mihocek at times and play smaller at others. But lack of match fitness now heavily against him.

I don’t expect Bowey, Salem, Riv, McVee will change. Hibbo as a small, very unlikely for mine.

T Mc almost has to play. Hopefully Fritsch is right. JVR. Pickett, Chandler, ANB.

Do they keep Smith in with Fritsch and McDonald? Or use Tracc as the 4th tall, have Smith the sub and bring in another mid/small forward? Smith’s pace gives him the edge over Laurie for me given the danger of the Pies counter attack and the athleticism of their backs.

Salem was non existent today & Bowey not much better, we need Hibberd imo, proven big game performer & our best lock down defender.

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
