Good to see Jesse Hogan up and about. Wish him every success and 0 possessions vs Steven May in a 100 point loss on grand final day.

What could have been for Hogan at the Dees had he stayed & frustrating as he left for Dockets , whilst we got pick 6 & used it for May. I believe the club spoke to him when Freo wanted him out but we went with Brown I believe?

Ding...ding...ding...

Chris Scott: Hi Brad...

Brad Scott: Hi Chris, I'm in trouble. I think you're not "The danger", Giants are "The danger".

Chris Scott: You don't know nothing, we're the real one, the real danger!

Brad Scott: You're not gonna make the final 8.

Chris Scott: You think you can?

Brad Scott: What should we do?

Chris Scott: Crying together...

116 points.

This result has come out if nowhere.

Giants just don't do this to teams, but gee I'm glad they're doing it to Essendon

The Scott brothers sniffing weakness in the Scott brothers.

Is there a more annoying phrase than lace out being used in footy?  A pure grid iron reference that has nothing to do with AFL.

he hit him lace out?   what are you on about?

Geez Hogan would be useful right now for the Dees, and 4 months later still burning about our loss to the bummers.

It’s ancient history. He never showed the desire to be a star despite having all the talent in the world.
Seems happy now and I’m happy for him!

Will always love Jesse. So happy for him and how his career has ended up at GWS.

He was gettable last year when OOC... Made a lot of sense but the feeling here was a big NO

Watching Essendon get smashed is priceless

Cheered me right up after that putrid Carlton game

Would love Saints to do this to Geelong later. Won’t happen tho.

Feeling a lot of sadness for the Essendon supporters. Must be difficult for them.

It's a reference to Lay Szout, one of the unknown Swedish exponents of the drop punt in the Scandinavian game futebahren.

Oh those poor Essendon fans that travelled and paid to watch this.

It's great gws haven't taken there foot off the pedal

He wasn’t gettable. He’s happy in Sydney and out of the limelight. He wouldn’t return back to the fishbowl that is Melbourne.

Coming Jesse get a 10 bagger!!!!

Ah yes, Futebahren. Created by the great Swedish explorer Bjorn Hoffjarnsen in 1754 whilst exploring the Carribean if I'm not mistaken.

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
