Saw on Ch7 that Max had a scan today - Any word from the track watchers or those close to the club.

Someone on another thread mentioned ‘finger’.

Sounds better than a knee

Hope whatever it is doesn't keep him out.  Game 200 against the Hawks for the champ.

Apart from the continuous mugging by the blues players last night, he looked OK at the Casey game today, offering tips to Verall and Farris White at qtr time and in the rooms at half time.

hopefully nothing but we have a handy replacement if required.

Channel 7 said it was a routine follow up appointment this afternoon (after reporting on it earlier in the day). Possibly a follow up knee scan to see how it’s looking. They specifically said ‘nothing to see here’.

It did make me wonder how the cameras knew to go to the exact scanning place on a Sunday morning at 11am.

To be fair all AFL players in Melbourne go to the same place to get scanned. I assume the gutter journalists just sit there all day every day waiting to catch someone.

This place looked very different to me. It was in a tight street - but Max could have gone to the regular place and just got a [censored] park.

I didn’t see the vision but if it was the one in Prahran it’s possible he parked down the side street. I’ve been there many times for scans myself and one side of the street looks like a weird alleyway.

That was it! When you went did Tom Browne doorstop you for an interview, so you pretended to be on the phone?

I'm assuming this is a banner preview for his 200th game?

The mugging by opposition players in EVERY game on Max is a joke and the umpiring dept or AFL senior people need to do something because our own club will not. I've watched 2 games up in Brissie live and to see the amount of players bumping, blocking and grabbing him even when the ball is miles away is beyond a joke.

He did. I told him to F off because he’s a tiny assclown and no, I will not be fit. Ever.

Our club never says a word. Never complains. Never mentions it. Pert should send a please explain to the umpires department with hours of vision of Gawn getting held, hit high and hit late for no frees.

I get that it’s not fair, but he needs to own it and get to work. He needs to out muscle them and compete and go again. His team mates also need to help him out from time to time. You need to earn your keep.

Looks like me in my new club jumper.

If I had a beard.

And I was taller.

A lot taller.....

Wonderful Captain's responsibility. The man has incredible leadership and foci.

We must be concerned for Max's longer-term welfare after football. He receives more thuggery to the head than any other player in the League. The impression gained from the AFL in this regard is '...so what? He's so good, he deserves to be pummelled to keep the game even...'

Do we actually know that the club doesn’t protest or complain just because they don’t do it publicly?

Good question. So far, it has not transferred into any behavioural observations and action from the umpires - yet remains clearly visible to all spectators at each game he plays. All one can assume is that the AFL has not responded to such enquiry.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
