One can only hope. Their ball use so far screams fatigue.

26-3

Go Hawks!

Misread this as "Have the Weagles..." and thought it great satire 😅😂

Have been saying for a while that these teams outside the eight are so so dangerous. A few teams are finding that out now. Hopefully we have been taking note.

I have been doing some light gardening, listening to the Crows v Suns game via the AFL app, choosing the ABC stream hoping it wouldn't the biased carp we get from 5AA. BIG mistake! You would have thought they were getting paid by each compliment they could give Crows players, with passing mention of anything the Suns did.

Hawks always have a dip. Their problem has been running out of gas late in games. Hopefully they can see this through today.

Gary Lyon - let's see how this GREAT side responds.

For the love of God, they are not a great side.

But they've won.....oh yeah nothing

Hawks aren't even playing that well and Collingwood are being exposed out the back and can't score. Howe is just about the Pies best player so far.

So Essendon have nth next week but then have gws then Collingwood. You'd think there lousy percentage would keep them out of finals and they'd lose the last 2

Hawks are actually a well drilled team, they just can't sustain it. They often start really well only to get overtaken half way through the 3rd quarter. Watching them now, their midfield play is really strong, and those young guys are sprinting to the next pace over and over again. High quality.

The Pies are playing loose (again), and the Hawks are pressuring the kicker rather than the ball carrier. Let's see if the Pies can reverse this earlier than the last quarter.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
