What’s the deal with the Dogs? Do they just go too hard too early and run out of steam?

Relatable

Angus Brayshaw huge goal to take the lead 2021 GF - wasn't that from another "super boot Daniels"' clanger?

Sure was

Followed by a clanger from Brayshaw himself... But then redeemed by that mark and goal.

Interesting task for the right DL poster.

QUESTION. ...over the past 3 seasons what is the win / loss ratio for all teams the round after playing us regardless of their result against the Dees.

Im guessing most lost. They throw the kitchen sink at us then theyre utterly cooked the week after.

I've been sick as a dog with food poisoning so I'm thankful for something to focus on...

BEHOLD!!!!

2021
15 WINS @ 65.217%

8 LOSSES  @ 34.783%

2022
10 WINS 43.478%

13 LOSSES 56.522%

2023
7 WINS 43.75%

9 LOSSES  56.25%
1 DRAW

TOTAL WINS - 32 = 51.61%
TOTAL LOSSS - 30 = 48.39%

Basically even stevens.

Here is a back of the envelope using a spreadsheet I grabbed from https://www.aussportsbetting.com/data/historical-afl-results-and-odds-data/

Give or take 1/2, I was lazy about excluding finals accounting for breaks in seasons.

Spoil sport.

BOBO...

That was quick.

Ok ,Cheers.

Actually am surprised.  Roughly 50%  of teams win the week after playing us.  I would of thought it would be less.

Ok, my bad.

Takes a lot out of teams trying to go with the dees.

And in the tigers case tonight, a five day break compounds that (short breaks really do have a massive impact - which makes our early season form even more impressive given how many we had of them)

Legit. It's taxing playing us.

yep, your stats the same as B0Bo's

cheers

The outcome surprised me too, I was sure there was something there. After tonight's game maybe there may be something to it - our opponents would only won 7/19 (37%) games after playing the us this year.

It's a good question! Wouldn't have guessed that amount of wins after us either.

Now I'm wondering which team has the lowest ratio of wins against.

Tigers are officially done

Bont the best player in the league. imagine if he played in a team with a decent defence?!

but the dogs don’t worry me one bit

50% wow. You'd almost think it was a two team sport or something!

Now tonight’s footy is shot it’s more stimulating to wonder which team’s supporters have the lowest ratio of tax….

Richmond making a statement.

You want us prime time Friday, then give us more than a five day break.

Maybe they are saying ‘we’ll play if you get us an actual coach next year’?

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
