We'd get 50,000-55,000 along, not sure it'd be big enough for them.

Win the flag and maybe we'd get 60,000...

They will want it against Collingwood, like they requested for this year. Suspect it will be Essendon/Richmond so they are only outnumbered 3:1 at the G rather than 4:1 against the Pies

I just count my lucky stars that the MCG is our home ground.

I was fortunate enough to go to a Western Bulldogs breakfast event on Wed at Marvel and even getting into that place at 7am with minimal traffic is an impossible task.

Yes me and I got hopeful, Alice Springs the only game i'm missing this year coz of the costs involved in getting there.

I doubt any St Kilda game at the G would be against us. Certainly not if they want to get 70k turning up. They should concentrate more in trying to fill Marvel for their current home games before trying to shoehorn their way into our ground.

More expensive than Perth?  (WCE in round 4)

Fair effort to attend 23 games.

St Kilda's home ground is Docklands and that's where they should play. Same as Essendon and Carlton (both who are looking to play extra home games at the G in coming years).

When these clubs play extra home games at the G someone has to play home games at Docklands to make up the shortfall - it's why we still play a game in the NT because this game would be at Docklands if it were in Vic.

Yes, yes I did.

We've done bloody well to get two of these feature games given our size. Hawthorn and Geelong only have one. North have half a one on Good Friday. Dogs and saints don't have any. Pies, dees and blues have 2. Richmond and bombers have 3.

It was there, DL!

Shun article on Saints wanting a 'blockbuster' home game at 'G (from) next year. Had a 'looking for suitors' feel to it.

Why, when we regularly get 80,000+ to these games?

We deserve those games as much as anyone. A Demons versus Saints blockbuster could be a thing if Saint Kilda continue to play good football.

The Saints warrant a "blockbuster" fixture but who is their natural opponent?

Maybe Collingwood - GFs against.

Rivalry round, probably the best I can come up with is:

Saints v Pies

North v Essendon

Demons v Dogs

Blues v Tigers*

Cats v Hawks*

*Two of them are blockbuster fixtures already.

I'd be keen to see other combos ...

Why doesn't the afl just go full commie and pool all gate receipts for all games? It would suit the current style of leadership at AFL house. Seems fair

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, hey?

Actually not a bad idea (and yes I despise the concept of communism).

Why should one club take all the profit just because of the way that the AFL decide to arrange the FIXture?  For example when we play Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond at OUR ground, the MCG and it is arbitrarily designated as our away game we get nothing? And vice versa?  Or teams like Geelong in their taxpayer funded ground get the lot when our fans can’t even get in?  The spectacle is provided by both teams, why not the takings?

I'm pretty sure this is how things worked in the early days of the comp. Yes the pool was far smaller but the concept was the same. You'd have the likes of Collingwood, West Coast and Adelaide crying could about that now though.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
