Taken the heat off the boundary ump from last night.

Nth made to many interchange rotations. So the umps are correct and that's the rule.

Gee nth can't take a trick

gifting the game based on that infringement is a ludicrous rule.

make Nth play with 17 players for 5 minutes or any other punishment

Bulldogs have a nice little deal going with their Ballarat games. Reportedly they get $1M from the State Government to play there.

Could we have a game in say sunny Mildura.

The irony is that the ground capacity in Ballarat is so small most Dog supporters don't bother with the trip

Yet AGL HQ insist that Hobart needs a $300,000,000 stadium.  What a pack of hypocrites.

It was because the ball was inside there 50. The free kick is where the ball is. But yeah it's harsh but all the other teams have managed to count

North are competing with Melbourne for the decade from hell. They cannot do anything right and cannot take a trick.
My Swans supporting friend is at the game. Said s young North fan next to them is bawling their eyes out. It’s just so heartbreaking because you know what that feels like!

Yet when players on the ACTUAL FIELD don’t line up in THE CORRECT PLACES THAT COULD DIRECTLY IMPACT THE GAME, everyone gets a warning????

That makes no sense.

No doubt the steward got it right, but as a hypothetical it would be interesting what would happen if, when North review their interchanges, it shows they only did 75.

The North bench stuffed it up and paid a massive price.  What a rotten way to lose a match.

Look on the bright side.  The win edged Sydney above Freo on the ladder.

Bloody hell.  I'm no friend of Norf but even I'm wondering how many times the footy gods can fart in their faces. Brutal way to lose.

100%

Everyone knows what the rule is - it's not hard. Is a real pity for North though.

No conspiracy. Nth stuffed up there interchange rotations. Surely there is someone on the nth bench that counts these

I’m not doubting the free kick - but the delivery system for that from a gamesmanship perspective is horrific.

’Hi, I’m a voice from above that no one can hear but you. Yeah, that team wins. Cheers’

Yet what happens, if, sometime in the future a similar thing happens but the interchange steward and not the club got the count wrong?

Interesting. Last night a Port Player did not leave the field though the interchange gate. Someone posted the footage and asked the question last night.

Was on Twitter last night. Will see if I can find it. They asked the question 'When did the rule get changed" Never thought much of it until I read the rules just then.

Then that would be an equally massive stuff up.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
