Not sure if I will drive in from Kilmore and park my car at work in South Melbourne (free parking) or drive to Craigieburn station and catch the train from there (Seymour line works 😩). Then do the usual change trains and get the Mernda or Hurstbridge line to get to Jolimont.

Get to game, find a spot around near the interchange where I used to sit, have a pie and beer and watch from the back.

Hate being a pleb and not having a reserved seat.

All this can only happen if I get my membership sorted lol.

If you can be bothered bush bashing Sat evening traffic to get to the free parking I'd say it's probably the way to go.

Has it still not acknowledged your sign up online?

SWYL there was one model I saw at Motorclassica a few years ago from around the 40s or 50s when they completely changed the design within a year? I've never been able to remember which one though don't suppose you do?

Post war. Many car companies had to completely revamp operations, because steel and parts were hard to supply

Good old wikipedia will probably give you some information

I'm thinking it could be one of the Traction Avants but will have to keep digging.

In early, 5:30pm, straight to the Frank Gray Smith bar. Catch up with my ‘footy mates’. Seated by 7. Watch the boys run out from Level 2 wing of the MCC. Go mental for four quarters. Beer at half time in the Percy Beames Bar, then hopefully celebration beverages post game. I’m chomping at the bit.

Nope, gonna call tomorrow.

Bush Bashing!? Geeze mate, it's only Kilmore lol

Is there a usual place people go after the game for a few refreshing ales?

Oh of course, not far at all. But once you hit the city it could be as thick as a national park with traffic! Hopefully not though.

Will be there in spades with my adult daughter, two of her housemates and may be my son. Should be a great occasion! Probably wander in about an hour beforehand, get a feel of the ground and try to stop shaking my heda about why we had to do this on a Wednesday in 2022.

I’m passing up a birthday party with three very good bands playing, so that I can sit with my son in front of the telly. Having given up the booze, I can’t even enjoy a cold one while the game is on… looks like hot dogs/pies and coke.

Expensive switch

I'll be reclining on the leather lounge, glass of gin and tonic in one hand, phone on xhamster in the other, facing the fireplace and looking resplendent.

As the Lilydale line stops at box Hill and I can't be bothered changing to get to Camberwell   I'll just watch at home.

Duuude, make replacement bus your friend!

I find that when you get on a replacement bus with a giant Jayden cardboard cutout people tend to make way for you. Short of that, here’s what you do: make your way to the front of the queue. Act a little unhinged and no one will arc up at you. Board the bus, pick a window seat and maintain the unhinged demeanour. People will give you a wide berth. If someone oblivious does go to sit next to you, turn to your imaginary friend sitting next to you and say something like, “it’s ok, they’ll never find the body.” Works every time.
You’re welcome. 😁

Finish decking around the new pool

then not watching the game as I don’t have Kayo anymore and I’m in northern NSW booooooo FtA scheduling

I'll be at the snow, sorry...

But seriously, I will, skiing the slopes of Engelberg in Switzerland. But I'm actually bummed to miss it live, will just have to watch us rip the doggies a new a**ehole after the weekend (or while recuperating in hospital with a broken leg)

Touch wood (on both accounts)

The Tippler on Wellington Parade is probably where the more discerning of our supporters end up. I've seen Rod Grinter and some of the past players group in there a few times and Hamish Blake once. I've made a decision not to go pre-game this season though as they introduced a $50 non-refundable credit card payment to book a table last year which can be a bit of a mare if your plans change at the last minute. No such problems after a game though.

Too early to say really. Looks like it'll be a cracking day weather wise though. I really want these four points as I have no intention of getting on a railway replacement bus full of Dogs fans after the game.

London Tavern in Richmond both before and after, although being a Saturday night game a few will head straight home.

We've always enjoyed the Hassett Room on level 2 after a game as it usually stays open for 20 to 30mins after the game.

I thought the Tippler closed at 1030 on Saturday.

Hi dworship. I know they keep funny hours these days but I've been there until midnight on a Saturday night after a game. Don't know if I'll be there this Saturday night though because of the replacement rail buses they are running on the entire Sunbury line.

Yeah that was a bit of a shame when it came in, will get there a few time this year but definitely gotta plan ahead.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
