He is an absolute gun.

Will go past Max at some point in the not too distant future to become the best ruck in the game.

Next month is big for us here; GWS and WB away, and ESS and Carl at home.

Would love to be 7 and 9 and ready for the season to be ended by Coll away.

C’mon lads! You can’t do it! I don’t believe in you! We are not Marshall! This is ATHENS! (You get that if you know Greek history and the movie 300 - it’s gold I assure you)

Ahh, 7 of 9, I can't even remember which Star Trek it was but you have to respect the chutzpah of the producers to just overtly decide "We're going to have a main character who is a model, permanently wearing a tight bodysuit". Saved the franchise.

Also, it is not possible to simultaneously know Greek history and the movie 300. You can switch between the two, but they cannot exist simultaneously.

As for those coming four games, every one of those is also against a team which we want to see climbing juuuust up above Fremantle. Ideally we would see six or seven teams finish the season on eleven wins (or ten and a draw for Blues/Tigers) with Fremantle on ten. Because we don't want Fremantle to 'fail', we just want them as low on the ladder as realistically possible. 5th last with ten wins would be perfect, thanks.

As an extension of the deathride I now find myself cheering for not only Freo's opponent but also all of the teams below Freo on the ladder who have a chance to overtake them. C'mon the Giants and Blues today.

Percentage is a good guide of merit at this stage of the year. Freo are grouped with Dogs, Suns, Tiges, Swans just behind Bombers and just ahead of Blues. So we want all these other teams to keep winning without smashing out the lights. Realistically pick 8 would be nice.

No.

That witch that disappeared suddenly said top 6.

If not, I wasted a perfectly good goat

Spot on. The permutations are endless.

Love it.

Serong and Amish out will be huge, and the GWS ruck is playing great so could do well against dogga, I reckon GWS are right in this.

If GWS and WB can win the next two I think we’re home. Freo would struggle to rebound from that and a top 7 pick could be back on the cards. Particularly if Sydney and the Blues get a run on at some point. Go Giants!!! (Eewww I feel dirty saying it).

If only we’d rocked up and besten Freo! Argh! They’d be 12th-14th and we’d be on for pick 4,5 or 6. Dammit!!!

I'd prefer Carlton winning. We don't want Voss sacked just yet.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
