Despite the conventional wisdom on here Jackson was pretty good from what I saw of that Q...a nice tap to advantage and a couple of good grabs. Happy to see Freo getting smashed but look with both eyes people.

What really surprises me tho is how much bigger and slower he looks. Did they get him to bulk up to play deep forward? It seems to have nullified his ground level athleticism.

Edit: he also doesn’t look happy. He was always happy and smiling at Melbourne.

"Freo has won XX games by 1 point, 4 against Adelaide"

Followed by

"Adelaide has lost X games by 1 point, 4 against Freo"

I mean seriously. Can we get better commentators. Please.

I was literally thinking this before, it's like they want him to be a bullocking forward. Really lumbering around

TBH, I derided this thread when it first appeared. I am now a clear convert.

I now have two games to give a damn about weekly*

I guess that makes up for the detached apathy that I held for the 15 years 2003-2018.

Grundy at 29 years old looks more athletic and dynamic than 21 year old Jackson

2018 and even 2017 were fun years I reckon

Can you imagine winning the Premiership this year and then walking away with a pick 2,3 or 4 on draft night.

Friggen amazing forecasting by JT and his merry men.😂👏

Freo reek of Melbourne 2019. Long season ahead for them.

This deathride is going all the way.

He looks like a defeated man out there does Jacko.

For once we would know what it feels like to be Jeelong.

I would post a pic of Homer droulling, but don't know how.

I've had my doubts about him but Rankine is looking the goods so far this season. Been excellent today

Is there a smarter player at forward 50 stoppages?

Freo look horrible. unless their defence and mids are flying they won’t win games

each time they rebound they have no options or connection. as average as LJ has been Tabener as the senior fwd has been woeful. doesn’t compete

they would have expected 5-0 or 4-1 given their run. wait until they have some tough games!

freo have Dogs Lions and Swans in the next 5

😃

I’m starting to almost feel bad for him. But then I remember that he made his choices and we are possibly going to run away from this with a top 5 draft pick so 🤷‍♀️

The lack of mid forward connection is Freo's big problem and I can't see this resolving itself anytime soon. Some of the delivery today was dreadful.

Freo look like a genuine bottom 4 side

Ironically, there's a 2019 Melbourne vibe about them.....at least that season gave us the pick we landed Luke Jackson with.....!

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
