He hasn't heard of you either.

No.26 Jed Adams, 19, 196cm 6’5” 91kg had shoulder issues when he arrived at the Dee’s and has taken a bit of time to fit into Casey particularly with Tomlinson and Disco playing so well down back. Needs a big pre- season and time in the gym.!!

So projecting forward our changes look like...

Out: Grundy, Hibberd, Dunstan, Jordon - D. Smith (r)

In: McAdam

D. Turner to be elevated to the senior list.

Decision yet to be made on Melksham.

That currently leaves 2 senior spots and 2 rookie spots pending further player movement and assuming we keep the same balance of senior to rookie players (36 and 6).

The chart says May comes out of contract now (2023) when he’s actually contracted until 2025.

Joel Smith is one we should be looking to tie up soon beyond his 2024 contract expiry. Has shown considerable improvement this season and will certainly be targeted by rival clubs if available.

So departures from 2023 look like...so far

Out: Grundy, Hibberd, Dunstan, Jordon,  D. Smith (r)

Question marks on ????? TMCD, BBB, Harmesy, K.Turner

Melksham & A Moniz-Wakefield are still unsigned

My expectations:

OUT: Dunstan (ret), Hibberd (ret), Jordon (FA), Grundy (trade), Harmes (trade), D. Smith (del), Melksham*(del) + one of either Brown (ret) or Tomlinson (trade) but not both.

ROOKIE Promotions: D. Turner & McVee (year early)

Re-Rookie: Melksham

IN: McAdam (trade)

That leaves 4 senior list positions & 2 rookie list positions. At least one of those spots you'd want to be a ruck that can also play forward or even back. Having another string to their bow is important to still allow Verrall and Farris-White to try and develop at Casey.

And if we're not going for Pick 4, I'd love it if we pulled off a trade for Naughton. Would give us huge flexibility with choosing who between he and Petty plays forward or back.

That sums it up well MAH would also love to see McVee upgraded with Disco in 24, Tomlinson has been advised that he is required and a poster on Facebook quoted Grundy, JJ and Harmes almost out the door, so a big year of change and refresh ahead for us all. Lucifers Hero is going to be very busy on this site.lol.!!

This includes known but as yet unactioned changes.  It also updates the list status and draft pick status.

I will add these updates to the top of this thread so folks don't need to search the text to find the latest...as @DeeZone has foreshadowed there will be quite a few !!

Thanks LH great effort as usual, it’s going to be a very interesting trade/ draft period as we may need to free up a couple more spots.!!

Latest changes:

  • Added ND39 from the JJ move to Sydney
  • Added Fullerton to the list
  • Show the list changes identified, yet to be completed (names in blue)

Melksham is staying.  Yet to decide if it as a senior listed or rookie listed player.  It probably won't be decided until time of the draft.  It won't affect the list size, just the mix.  My guess is he will be a rookie as we may need the senior list to cover all the departures.  If that guess is correct the chart would show 3 senior and 1 A rookie list spot,

That is a very tidy draft hand we hold!!

I'm pretty sure I heard there will be an additional 'veteran spot' coming back for this coming season. So we may be able to put Melksham in that category, without taking away from a senior or rookie list spot. It just sounds so ridiculous to make a 200+ game player a 'rookie'.

Thanks for that.  If you see the 'veteran spot' confirmed let me know and I will adjust the chart.

Yes, it is crazy to use 'Rookie' for Melksham.  It matters not to his remuneration or selection but I reckon he deserves better.

I don't have confirmation on these, but I think I heard in association with the new CBA that:

  • The extra Veterans list spot was not agreed
  • Mid season Rookies can stay on the Rookie list for an extra year so it may not be compulsory to elevate Disco

I heard the same (about the Veterans spot)

Thanks for info.

Technically we may not have to promote Disco but it would be shocking optics and quite unfair to not do so.  I would think that contract for promotion would already be signed.

Going by this article I think it's safe to assume he'll be on the senior list next year.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
