Depending on results I think the GWS would be a possible game to debut him.

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok, Ok, I know he missed a sitter from not far out and yes he had Covid last week but 14 Possesions in a side where delivery was about as good as any under 12s game in The Basin in sub zero temperatures and mud up to your knees?. Surely, he needs to play and see what he has got!?? Has shown he can take contested grabs and usually very reliable kick for goal ! Season is Shot so Simon..... Time to BLOOD JEFFO and it starts NEXT WEEK!

Patience grasshopper

He'll come in 2 weeks time should we lose next week, and get a few games to end the season

Genuinely starting to think you have a pretty big bet on this bloke playing a senior game this season

Based on what I’ve seen (and it’s been most Casey games this year) he is still well below the level required - unless of course the intensity at VFL level is way higher than AFL (it clearly is not)

Yes he has shown glimpses in small cameos but he is way off the pace as a possible AFL KPF

We need him to do a “McVee” over the summer - fingers crossed 🤞

Jeffo was fantastic in the wet with 17 disposals. Could, should, have kicked more goals, but his wet weather contested marking was magnificent and his ground ball gets, tackling and intelligent, intuitive handballs/ tap ons, were brilliant! He simply must play for the rest of the season IMV! Time to blood him and next week is ideal!

I agree with you PF, for the love of God, just get Jeffo in & play him for the rest of the season. Also young Brown should be selected ahead of Woewodin. We won't make finals now & we need to start getting games into these two.

Be interesting to give him a game against the Bulldogs this coming weekend.

"Okay, kiddo, our forward line has been our crucial weakness all year, and our season dies now if we lose this game, see what you can do."

Last night we had the 2023 #1 playing in Cadman as a KPF. I think i heard his name called maybe 2-3 times. He did nothing, but he is young and still getting used to the pace of AFL. Jeffo is at almost 2 years in the VFL and needs to be exposed to AFL footy to see what can learn over next pre-season.

We are out of the finals, so we have nothing to lose now. I'd like GOody to start experimenting with 2025 structure.

This includes Petty back to Defence so that JVR, Turner and Jeffo can all play in the forward line.

What do we do with TMac? if he's not playing next year, give him a farewell game and he can ride the season out on the pine.

They also had a bloke called Jesse who is second in the Coleman race with 53 goals to date

It’s a bit easier to carry a young developing tall in their side imho

Besides Cadman is ahead of Jefferson  atm in terms of being physically ready - again just my opinion

If we lose a couple more and it’s no longer possible to make finals then sure let’s try a few more young blokes - we are not quite there yet

I doubt Jefferson could have less impact than Melksham has in the past two weeks. My only fear is that our ball movement and forward structures are so dysfunctional that playing him at this time could be seriously detrimental to his confidence and development.

Um, he kicks goals on suburban ovals with Tsunamis, Snow, Blizzards, Neon lights,  Slitheras around his feet AND UNDER 11 STYLE DELIVERY!! I'm sure he will fit right in!!

I've said it here before, if 1 game in the AFL as detrimental impact on his confidence and development then he'll never make it at all.

If anything the exposure should have a positive impact, even if he struggles. It'll give him a real understanding of the requirements of AFL footy, which he can then take into the pre-season to get himself in a position to play regularly in 2025.

I'm not averse to giving Jeffo a go. He's a very smart player and, with a lift in intensity and fitness, could be a very good player in time. The other bonus would be shutting up Fence and his Jeffo fixation for a week. Having said that, while Port's defence might be better suited to him, they're still going to take one look at Jeffo vision and ragdoll him then run off him all game. It's just a matter of how much he would gain from the experience this year versus next.

I'd also like to see Sestan at this level. He certainly has the skillset but his fitness is way off so it would have to be as sub, (with a prayer he wouldn't be required for more than half a game). He's had two seasons to get his fitness up but still goes missing at Casey more often than not, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it if that's where he stays.

I think it’s time to have a look at Jeffo at AFL level. No point sending Maysie back out with sore ribs next week, plug Petty down back and bring Jefferson in for the rest of the season.

AFAIK Casey only have the one game left in the season, so he’s better off playing and developing in the main team rather than sitting idle 2 of the 3 remaining weeks.

I’m all down for a Jeffo debut…. But only if everyone on DLand promises not to start a ‘Delist Jeffo’ post when he doesn’t kick a goal in game 1

We won't kick a goal

He'll kick 6 😎

2024 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Once again the club’s top goal scorer but he had a few uncharacteristic flat spots during the season and the club will be looking for much better from him in 2025. After sustaining a torn ACL in the final match of the 2023 season Jake added a bit to the attack late in the 2024 season upon his return. He has re-signed on to the Demons for 1 more season in 2025. Date of Birth: 12 August 1991 Height: 186cm Games MFC 2024: 8 Career Total: 229 Goals MFC 2024: 8 Career Total: 188

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The first round draft pick at #13 from twelve months ago the strongly built medium forward has had an impressive introduction to AFL football and is expected to spend more midfield moments as his career progresses. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
